I had a NZ wind proof Smock like our British SAS Smock that I used to wear for years when I was in.

I have a 1984 dated NZ smock identical to this however mine has British shaped pockets, so there were some variations. Jackets weren't really a big part of Australian kit, the M65 was used at least until the early to mid 2000s when a horribly inadequate soft shell style jacket was introduced. Aside from the M65 we had a jungle green Denison Smock used from about the late 50s till the late 80s, very early 90s. This was replaced by the DPCU para smock. It was really only 2014 before we adopted a universally issued 'smock' style jacket in AMCU.

In Portugal the Armed Forces still wear their own version of British DPM, and their Special Forces a version of multicam. I always found at dusk ( just before it got dark) the multicam really stood out compared to DPM. Interestingly the French seem to be keeping there version of Camo, which seems to be a mix of woodland, and DPM design

..John Steele is correct when he states that there are variations in the pocket flaps of the NZ smock. All I can say, is that the manufacturers were too lazy to put the pointed pocket flaps on the smock and the matching NZ pattern DPM trousers, preferring to just plonk a rectangular pocket flap over the pockets, and be done with it. I wore a 'pointy' pocket flap DPM smock, and matching trousers for some years, before they were replaced by succeeding issues of dress. NZ tankies raised the ire of many an out of Corps RSMs by wearing their smocks with sleeves rolled up past the elbows, and the bottom portion of the smock bloused upwards and tied off at the hip. I drew some stares from Defence personnel when I boarded a Defence flight dressed like that. All that I know, is that I looked cool, and there was nobody on that flight who knew what the dress regulations pertaining to army were, anyway!

Lovely video! I do believe I might own the hood for this jacket as my father was in the RNZIR during the mid eighties. It has lots of extra material sewn on for extra camouflage though.

I know of fact that new Zealand infantry disappeared in to nothing with the new Zealand dpm pattern and that wasn't hard at all for them at all scary to see in the field also this pattern was made possible for all the work 1st battalion infantry were doing through out southeast Asia

@@RiflemanMoore these were rubbish and only worn if we couldn’t get something better. 68 pattern UK ones were the preference.

This is a channel dealing mainly with British and Commonwealth kit Charley, might not be the right place to ask.
