The DCI announcer needs a raise. Also, Rach star is one of those shows that I discovered early as a DCI fan and it really drew me into Crown. The opening hit is considered to be one of the best opening hits ever by Carolina Crown.

This show was from the year that Tuscaloosa, Alabama got hit by an F5 tornado in April. During the summer, when Crown was touring, they did a benefit concert in Tuscaloosa where they played this show, standing still...inside a gym. That hornline melted everyone's face off.

You're correct in relating Crown to amazing hornlines. They are often thought of having one of the best in the activity and constantly rank among the top three, much of the time being in first. I hope to march at least one year of crown before I age out :)

Oh, I've definitely mentioned it in the comments several times. Relentless is one of my favorite shows. I'm sure someone will suggest it eventually. Not really a good version of it on youtube... gotta have that finals ending! The only decent recording I've seen is on Daily Motion.

AHHH I'm so glad someone guaranteed Rachstar (pronounced "Rock-Star") I had just rediscovered this show recently and am just obsessed with the music, and the opening hit, Paint it Black, and the crazy closer. Just all around an incredibly fun show. Also got me giddy because my senior year in high school ('04) we did ELP's Concerto and always love hearing a better version of music i've done, lol. I've been hoping for you to watch this show just for then ending alone and totally made my night that you reacted about as i expected. and yes those forms were the rocker hand and a guitar. I hope you can get to the recommendations that I've recently sent, going a little off course but i think you'll really love seeing the Blast! performances :)

This show wasn’t designed to win a championship. It was designed to ensure those kids had the time of their lives every time they performed that show whether in rehearsal or on tour. The energy of this show was just infectious. There was rarely a time when the crowd wasn’t engaged with this show. Also that opening hit was THE opening hit Crown has ever done.

Actually, it isn't. It should be (corps name) THEN the opening hit. If Brandt steps on the opening hit, he's too late....he did it in 2014 with BD as well. 2014 Bloo is how it's supposed to be done. That's the risk if announcing during a "running start."

Yes if the show was different it wouldn’t have matched but in this case i think the timing was right where it needed to be and had he said ‘Carolina crown’ before the hit it wouldn’t have been as strong. Ofc i liked the opener and the closer, but the whole show wasnt that big of a deal for me. This show did that though and thats why i think Rach Star was better then The Beat My Heart Skipped

2011 in general had so many great shows. The big thing i remember for BD: BMHS and reason why i think Courtney would love it, is the "Say a little prayer for you" and they're having the hip thrust moment of the show (cause BD) but also the mallets are just going at it, and i know she loves things like that.

Bluecoats were very underrated in 2011 as well. But I feel BD had a great show all the way through. Visually and conceptually there were some flaws in this show in my opinion. But the opener and the closer were outstanding.
