Award-winning Colin Brazier is one of the most respected figures in broadcast journalism. His accolades include an International Emmy (for his reporting on the European migrant crisis) as well as nominations for both a BAFTA and the Royal Television Society Award for Presenter of the Year.
Prior to joining GB News, where his show "Brazier" now replaces "The Andrew Neil Show" on weekday evenings, Colin was at Sky News (1997-2021). He was the first British journalist to enter Southern Lebanon with Israeli forces in 2006 and, before that, he was the first British journalist to enter Iraq with coalition troops during the 2003 invasion. His related documentary, Brothers in Baghdad, was shortlisted at the 48th Monte-Carlo Television Festival.
In 2009, Brazier conducted one of the final interviews given by Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi. He joins us on the #SWYSI sofa to discuss his fascinating life & career, the culture wars and much more.

👍🏻👍🏻 I'm not sure the BBC is his natural home, but Neil had been there a LONG time. He should have committed to GB News (and I definitely don't think he did), even if absolutely everything about it wasn't to his style. ___________ GB News is excellent. It gives voice to the majority who are not London-centric and on Twatter. The Leftists have had a near monopoly on the news agenda - and have influenced the debates (and election outcomes) on almost every subject for the past 40 years. Once they realise they couldn't control the Brexit debate and the PUBLIC's opinion, they feared that the days of endlessly getting their own way were numbered. Maybe that's why they went along with green/liberal/red Tory Boris getting elected? Seeing that the country had no appetite for Corbyn and his Momentum communists, what better than place a cuckoo in the Tory nest?

@@user-qf6yt3id3w You've a long memory. I think that embarrassed him - only because he had no idea she was a prostitute, or had involved herself with other men at the same time. But his conduct at GB News has been at best questionable 👍🏻

Andrew Neil probably expected political big hitters to be wheeled out from day one, and a start up couldn't deliver that. That adversarial media world has gone, as on-message whip fodder spout the point of the day, irrespective of the questions asked. MSM enables party apparatchiks to deliver their morning homily, nothing more.

Andrew Neil could not have reclaimed that slot, as right from the kick off Colin made it his own. He is excellent and displays all the qualities we used to expect from our broadcast journalists but sadly now don't as they are so hard to find in todays UK. What a marvellously eloquent, measured, heartfelt and just downright thoroughly decent gentleman Colin Brazier is. His point about the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune really hit home with me, and made me think that if some of the folk who make such a lot of noise about events that they are unconnected with, Floyd for example, or those who fervently find racism in everything, might benefit from a few in their own lives. Not wishing tragedy on anyone, that isn't what I mean, but like those who lived through WW2, there's a stoicism and sense of perspective one gains through strife, and especially personal tragedy and grief that forges a better and wiser human being out of us. In the old adage about strong people making good times, good times making weak people, weak people making bad times, bad times making strong people; I can't help thinking we're in the bad times phase, which will one day make us strong, but only if we fight for it.

I watch Colin's week night programmes. He's excellent and I'd say one of the more professional of the journalists in their line up due to his experience. Intelligent, knowledgeable, articulate with a honest but firm interviewing style. I hope he's here to stay, he's a great asset. I did like Andrew Neil but if you had watched his last shows, I don't think he was as razor sharp as the old AN we knew, which might have been due to the huge stress. I also note that AN hasn't been doing much as the Spectator TV as he did in the past.

In 40 years when Europe is nothing but flames, strewn sleepers on the streets and 0 production, these videos will be a memory of decency and quality.

Good man. Sad Andrew lost his spine. He was by far the best the last years. Welcome Colin, the new Andrew Neil.
