Before we move to our new home, I thought we should do a few things together. Later in the video we are going to take a historic walk and tour the outside of some homes. I decided to make a tomato and onion sun salad with fresh tomatoes and herbs from the garden. I'm also going to start harvesting and bundle up the herbs for drying, then I though I would take you on a walk. When I house was being shown, we had to leave for several hours and we decided to go to Concord, MA and Lincoln, MA to show you where the American Revolution began between the British and Americans.
I forgot to put in the recipe comment that the tomatoes are left in the sun for at least several hours until soft.

I just love these videos where there’s a mix of different things, but it’s so warm, personable, informative, relaxing-all the things! I’m so glad you included Willow on your walk. She really seemed to be enjoying herself! Thanks for including the historical portion of the video-I’ve never been to any of the Revolutionary War battlefields. The closest we got to that area was a visit to New England just before we left Pennsylvania for the desert of Arizona.

Good Morning Miss Linda, Happened upon your channel couple of weeks ago and have just fallen in love with New England and you! We too are in the middle of a move from Texas to Georgia. We have rented for a year and are now in the process of moving into our, dare I say, " forever home". Our home is 20 years old and we feel it is ancient! I can't imagine one that is in the 100"s! I too am a designer, but pretty much retired except for long time clients and family. BUT...my move has been a disaster since day one. I am now sitting in our new home and it looks like a small bomb has exploded in the middle if it. So dear "kindred spirit" please pray for me as I will pray for you in the weeks and months ahead, that God will bless us with His Grace to put this all together and bring peace once again into our homes and lives.

Thank you for showing us the North Bridge in Concord, in researching my husband's family tree I discovered that his 5th great grandfather Nathan Buttrick 1725-1812 from Concord fought at that battle under command of his brother Major Jonathan Buttrick 1721-1775. Boy was I excited to tell my husband and kids about them!

Beautiful video Linda. I loved the music you put to the tour. What an amazing place....so peaceful. Even though it wasn’t in 1775! I live in Massachusetts but have never been there, I’ll have to put that on my bucket list. Your tomatoes look so yummy, I also love tomato sandwiches with Mayo. My Mom used to eat Vidalia onion sandwiches with sweet cream butter 😋.

Thank you for sharing. The Battle of Short Hills, which was the first battle to defend the newly established colors of our country, was fought in our town, as were many other battles and this area has been since known as the Crossroads of the Revolution! Ironically, some of the fighters were descendants of those who defended the country in Concord. True American Patriots!

A professional chef once taught me the trick to cutting a tomatoe for least amount of waste. Take your knife and cut vertically around the stem, as close to it as possible, and slightly deep, and pop it right out. That way the top of the tomatoe is still intact and not thrown out, as is the case if cut horizontally.

Linda, I so enjoyed this video! Thanks for having another “how to” in your kitchen. I will miss this house snd especially your kitchen. I know that your new home will be just as wonderful! Still…I felt a little tug on my heart today, knowing we won’t be seeing you there much longer. I enjoyed you recipe. I too, love tomato sandwiches! I started eating them when I was a young girl after reading the book, “Harriet the Spy.” She also ate tomato sandwiches after school each day! Haha! I loved the gardens that you took us to and learning the history of the place snd the bridge! I really loved that bridge. It was so lovely going across that lazy River! It is hard to imagine battles being fought there. Maybe it was just as hard for the people fighting. Such a beautiful setting to have to fight in. I also enjoyed your preparing your her bundles to dry. I think I would find it very soothing to gather and prepare herbs from my garden. It seems like a very satisfying chore.

Another benefit to composting food waste is that your garbage bin never stinks and doesn't attract insects. I don't compost, but I do separate food waste into a refrigerated container. When it's full, I empty. I don't have a garden, so no reason to compost, hopefully next summer, I'll begin on my balcony. We'll see. // Watching you just now, it occurred to me that today's bourgeoisie takes pride in self-sufficiency: cooking, gardening, shopping and yet just a century ago, they relied on "help." Wonder what they would think of today's self-sufficient affluent class. New Englanders really set the standard for fine living and self-sufficiency - doing delicious farm to table food well before it was hip.

Just a small suggestion…I hang my herbs with rubber bands because when my herbs dried using rubber bands, the bands kept the drying herbs together. When I used string, the herb bundles became loose as they dried. Works better for me to use rubber bands.

I make that tomato recipe too (but for me it's Nanny's tomatoes) sometimes add sliced cucumbers too. Yummy on a hot summer day. FYI You can make it with cucumbers instead if tomatoes too.
