Thank you! You saved me from having to buy another laptop! I kept getting the incompatibility messages when trying to install windows 11 on my laptop. I got so far and to add the windows 11 files unto a thumb drive, but it wouldn’t load from the thumb drive without the incompatibility error messages or just stalling somewhere on install at some percentage. I followed what you said and copied the filed to the C drive from the thumb drive and everything worked perfectly. I have been thinking there HAS to be a way around this. I seen someone put windows 11 on a 15 year old handheld pc. I knew if I just watched the right video I would get the correct advice. Thanks a million!

Nice one Brian I have had Windows 11 Pro on my older Ivy Bridge build for some time now and back then I used the method of applying registry hacks (Bypass CPU and TPM version via the Rufus feature) and this is a much easier way of getting Windows 11 onto an older computer. I have had so far no problems in the almost two years I have installed it with the updates but am anticipating that when version 23H2 becomes available that Microsoft will deny access to it. But all the same it has worked as I said for that amount of time.

I just used Brian's guide to revive my old i7 7700HQ laptop, which I'd given up on. I'm cock-a-hoop with it, it seems be snappier with W11 than W10, so now I'll have it as a mobile backup to the full-on desk-top I built last year, and it's getting a new battery and SSD in celebration. Thing is, MS can't very well cancel the use of W11 for older PCs now, or they'll have a world-wide riot on their hands. I see W11 being able to keep old PCs running until they are just too decrepit to carry on, while W12 will arrive in a year or two, with even better security, for the more up-to-date PCs.

Well done on a very clear instructional video to solve a really annoying Microsoft restriction. I varied my upgrade slightly, by copying the Windows 11 iso to another PC on my WIFI network, to avoid filling the PC to be upgraded, with another 6GB of files. I then shared the ISO across the network, and mounted it as, say, the E- Drive, from the Windows 10 PC I was upgrading. I then ran from the CDM window, as the administrator: e:\setup /product server It then installed just as you have shown 😎

If you don't like command line, another method is to open the iso through either mount or explore, open the "sources" folder, find setupprep, right click and make a shortcut to desktop. Edit the shortcut entry "Target" by adding "(space)/product server". Now you simply double click the shortcut you created and you are off and running. less chance for typing errors, and if needed to try multiple times, just run again.

Unless your the type of person who absolutely has to have the latest this or that, I just don't understand why someone would want to do this (in 2 years' time, if Windows 10 support is actually being withdrawn, okay). But Windows 10 is still good until Oct 2025. You have to be logged on the Microsoft (MS) account to access Windows 11 and they will know which computers bypassed TPM 2.0. The possibility of MS deactivating those Windows machines is not impossible to imagine; in fact, as profit driven as they are, very probable.
