Agree completely. Heard Brendel play it at the Salzburg Festival, and I cannot keep from going back to that mesmerizing performance.

Still not the level of his teacher, Edwin Fischer. But my second favorite recording after that. I feel like Brendel and Edwin Fischer are the only pianists who play it very well. Every other great pianist fails.

JRneko Did you check out Edwin Fischer?

JRneko Well, all I can say is keep looking. If you love this, you will also love Edwin Fischer and you see where this interpretation comes from.
