One of the most frustrating parts of the HVAC industry is the amount of misinformation being spread by technicians and subsequently making it to the general public. I’m getting ready to get quotes for a new heat pump and if I hear any of the nonsense that comes up in these comment sections, it’s an instant disqualification of that company.

When it comes to what other countries have done, my grandma used to say, "if the other kids jumped off a bridge, would you jump off too?" The idea of 32 is to have a lower global warming potential. That means you have to buy into the idea that man can control global warming by using a refrigerant with a lower potential, which seems about as probable as social distancing and mask wearing would prevent Covid transmission. If R32 was not more dangerous, there would not be all of the extra training being offered at supply houses. Summary: we change to a refrigerant in it's pure form to produce an outcome which is unlikely, and introduce a level of risk that is not needed by anyone. I will be out of the business before this comes to a rooftop unit near me. You guys have fun. HTH.

@@andreycham4797 In order to learn from others, what others have done must first be confirmed as good and effective. That is not the case when it comes to climate dogma. It is designed by Eco-communists who want to disrupt the success of a free society. This has been easily done in socialist countries where people have little freedom to begin with. As an aviation professional, I learned that mistakes are often deadly, so you are best guided by others having made those deadly mistakes. Do a search for "exploding refrigerator."

Well said brother. Here's how you now it's all bullshit. Want to know how to Really help GWP? You mandate that all vehicles produced charge their own batteries so they never have to plug into the grid again. Done. I'm just going to legally sub out all my installs so I don't get sued. I bet insurance rates go up for contractors, homeowners, building owners. If it's so safe why do they have to change all the building codes? I've seen the videos from other countries of the AC's blowing up. I thought AHRI energy efficient equipment was supposed to help with GWP. I feel stupid saying that. All the executives getting paid will say anything. What about all the chlorine in the 100 million pools around the world? What about the 400 newk plants around the world pumping hot water into the oceans and rivers 24/7? The gov is the biggest polluter on the planet btw. How about magnetic energy? It's where you have a turbine (think blower motor shaft) and attached at the end of the shaft are 3 legs with (industrial size) steel balls at the end. You place industrial size magnets near the balls and they spin the shaft. Free energy with extremely low GWP. That's how you now all this is BS. Wait till people start getting hurt or killed. It's not the trained technicians I'm worried about.

Both use POE as the compressor oil, so I expect that both will work fine. The reason you should not replace R410a with R32 is that R32 is more flammable and the units do not have the safety features to prevent a fire. DIY people have been using propane/butane to fix up old refrigerators and car ACs and this does work as well. Whether that's a good idea is another topic xD
