I'm a truck driver and I just installed a 3.5 ton Goodman condenser. I get everything to working pretty good just before I need to leave for work. I go to unhook my low side line and the valve stem is leaking. I put a metal cap with a seal on it and went to work. I bought a valve stem installer last year and now after watching your video. I'm going to put it to work.

Nice job! But since they were leaving maybe they could leave remotes with you and/or then you could cut power from outside, remove refrigerant and weigh in factory charge after replacing valve cores? Then power back up. Use remotes to turn back on and leave them by door. Since they were gone. This actually happened to me lol 😊 but not a valve core issue

1) mini splits spec is for charge to be weighed in 2) any time there is a significant leak on 410a and a top off is done then we don’t know if we have correct blend of refrigerants anymore 3) maybe something more I don’t know about? sometimes something like this is the best you can do on a specific job, still very important to know what is proper and why so you can intelligently decide to do it differently

Aint nothing wrong with what you just did. Yes proper way is to pull charge and weight in oem amount, but aint nothin wrong with charging on the fly and checking delta t of your indoor temps and suction pressures. Yeah, I still don't know why they don't put both ports on those condensers so you can monitor and charge them like standard compressor a.c. units. Seems like saving a few dollars on a valve with a port in it causes a lot of heartache for the tech, and lots of extra work for the tech and cost for the customers when you have to dump the charge and then sell them all new refrigerant, remove the old refrigerant, and dispose of the old refrigerant and maybe even install a new dryer. Such a waste of time and money to save the cost of a valve. I don't get it!!!

@@richardbartlett6932 I do maintenance and repairs on standard non-inverter systems for family and friends, and I'm considering replacing my own 25 year old 1999 model Dual Compressor 5 Ton 2 stage XL1800 Heat Pump with the new inverter technology when it dies. Have YOU ever worked on one of these new inverter systems, or any A/C units? What do you think about inverter systems?
@markbeiser
@markbeiser 2 ай бұрын
The metering devices are in the outdoor unit, so there is no liquid pressure to be had at the service valves. Most mini and multi splits don't have a charging mode, or other means to make the compressor and fans run at 100%, so access to a liquid port wouldn't necessarily help. Short of recovering the remaining charge, evacuating, and weighting in a fresh charge, all you can do is add refrigerant until it seems to be working decently, but no way to get it exact.
@markbeiser
@markbeiser 2 ай бұрын
@@optionstraderman AS/Trane inverter systems are nice. With the new Link controls you can bluetooth connect to it with a phone or tablet to access the whole system, run test modes, change configurations, and even check refrigerant.

It didn't look like enough ac for that trailer. I may be wrong , but those trailers get hot and I don't know a lot about those mini splits. Honestly, I don't really like them. Tenants are the worst in many cases. Maybe they should live a few days in the heat and humidity then make an appointment with them. That'll likely encourage them to see to it they make time for the needed service. This is the problem we have with landlords who are dealing with tenants that are "entitled" and expect perfection in every aspect of their housing needs.
