By the way lads When you see the parents leave with a sausage in bread - we have polling stations on election day ((Saturday) we are all required to vote unless incur a $20.00 fine and we have a 99.9% turn out. At almost every polling booth there is a BBQ outside with sausages. tomato sauce and white bread. Sometimes you pay 2 bucks but it can vary (sometimes it could be free) It's called the democracy sausage.

Australian living in North America here. Dunny is pretty equivalent to saying crapper, and Australian's use toilet instead of bathroom or washroom. So Chilli is really just saying, can we please say bathroom in this house not crapper.

@carpelibrarium8522Ай бұрын
Or, based on Adam's reaction, Chilli is saying "can we please say 'bathroom' not 'toilet' in this family."
@ToddJHammondАй бұрын
The dunny was originally any outside toilet. In cities and towns the pan-type dunny was emptied by the dunny man, who came round regularly with his dunny cart. Dunny can now be used for any toilet. The word comes from British dialect dunnekin meaning an 'earth closet, (outside) privy' from dung + ken 'house'. So the reason why it's considered trashy now is because it refers to going to the bathroom in an outside toilet which would be considered lower class these days.
@caylem00Ай бұрын
Yep. It's not used in polite/ professional society as it can have negative connotations re: wealth/ education. Aussies tend to use 'toilet' but 'bathroom' is now common because of US media influence. Also side note: 'toilet' isnt just the porcelain receptacle, the older definition is "the process of washing oneself, dressing, and attending to one's appearance". So 'finishing my toilet' is finishing getting ready.

We (Australians) say toilet instead of bathroom because historically toilets weren't in bathrooms. First, they were outside (an outhouse), then houses were typically built with just one bathroom and the toilet was given its own little room next to it so that you didn't have to wait for someone to finish showering to use it. For the past few decades, it became more common to have two bathrooms and usually the master ensuite would have the toilet in it, but often the main bathroom wouldn't. There is usually a powder room next to it with a toilet and sink. The More You Know. 🌈
@liamwhite352217 күн бұрын
So in the main bathroom would be... just a sink? Just a room with a sink in it, and otherwise to be used for storage?
@katrina48417 күн бұрын
@@liamwhite3522 No, it's a bathroom without the toilet, so it usually has a shower, bath and a vanity with 1 - 2 sinks. And sometimes it will have storage for towels etc.

Maybe in hotels or recusants etc. We do use the UK term loo quite a bit - especially older people. BTW Australian's love a swear - we use the c-word as a term of endearment (depends on context!) and non Australians are often surprised when they hear what can be said on our TV and Radio.

A bunch of people brought their kids with them and since it was right after Halloween, a few of us had brought leftover Halloween candy and set it out for anyone to grab on their way out. The kids LOVED it. Just a really neat experience and a very fun way to spend the day getting to know some other local people. Would absolutely recommend signing up if anyone is able to around work obligations, though I know some workers had a rougher go of it due to nonsense this year.

No arguments here, just really does depend on the views and how much those views impact your life. I can absolutely get along with people who have different view points until those view points are that they need to harm me or the people I love for their own personal gain. At that point it's no longer a disagreement, it's defending the things that are important to me and that directly impact my life. I think people can lose sight of that sometimes if they aren't personally impacted themselves

This reaction was amazing - it had so much awesome stuff in it! During Circus, I was feeling so much what y'all were feeling that I didn't know how I would feel about the rest of the episodes but it ended up being so wonderful. Like Adam, I grew up in the days with no tech and the huge awesome maps and I LOVED being the navigator. I started doing it really young and I could find my way anywhere with a map. I miss that part of trips now. A car game we played was Cows vs. Graveyards - you would count up all the cows you saw out the window on your side of the car but if you passed a graveyard on your side, then it would wipe out your count and you had to start from 0. Person with the highest count when we stopped won. Like Jay - grammar was HUGE in my family growing up. "Ain't" was a cuss word basically. I have worked very hard to soften how I handle grammar with my son (because it's so hard to break that habit) but I know it's not the end of the world.
