New jeans was heavily influenced by 1st generation kpop groups from the mid 90s like SES and Finkl. This has been acknowledged by hybe and korean music critics. The style of font and print designs were very common in the 90s. The claims of copying a mexican group is simply groundless.

Ye sure so bad that she took inspiration from 20-30years ago and mentioned it’s a modernized y2k style. Illit production team on another hand did so well to copied a group production formula that’s only 1+ years old. Ye they did so great. Clap to them for not needing to dig out 20-30 resources but just take it from existing 1 year old group.

i think in min heejin's case, the similarities between choreography, pre-debut promotion, and promotional materials are too similar in too many instances... heck, even the outfits are similar. the amount of evidence of copying is larger, u can see it in another video of this same youtuber where she described the similarities of new jeans and illit. while it may have been "inspiration", why would the similarities appear in multiple instances through the same means? min heejin is accusing hybe of copying her "formula", which isn't necessarily copy pasting every single thing, but basically copying the style of new jean's debut materials, etc.

@@mysillymetaversethe girls in new jeans in illit are both innocent... the problem lies in their label. min heejin, ceo of ADOR (which is sublabel of Hybe) and person managing New Jeans, is accusing the Hybe of copying New Jean's formula in their debuted girl group Illit. While similarities may be alright, Min Heejin states that Illit was debuted as a girl group that was "manipulated (for lack of better term" to have the same vibes as New Jeans, since they were debuted without much "differentiation" from NJ. hence, making Illit dubbed as another ver of New Jeans. Due to this, there has been increasing attacks on New Jeans and Illit's reputation, in which, guardians of New Jeans reached out to min heejin to address this issue. Basically, Min Heejin took it to court and is accusing hybe of copying the formula to create New Jeans, which has led to consequences for both girl groups, since they didn't make Illit "differentiable" enough from NJ. (sorry in advance if i didn't explain it well, but this youtuber also explained the issue, and has a video showing the guardians email to min heejin as well)

@MayAlaudi I'm not hating on newjeans. I love them. My target here is min hee jin. And newjeans isn't even y2k. Real y2k in visuals is gidle's queencard and for sound is Kiss of life's midas touch. Like explain to me what is so y2k abt newjeans? And even if newjeans was y2k, that's not a reason to defend them. Y2k doesn't look exactly the same. They are some differences when it comes to fashion. Some people might wear jewelery, some might chose to not. It's not just a copy of everything. And we are not only talking abt styling, we are also talking abt choreography, album covers and logo

Min HeeJin is right. People use your heads, it’s not the same to take inspiration from a group that ended 20 years ago, in another country, from some other company; and to “take (heavy) inspiration” from a CURRENT group in the SAME company, only a few months apart!! To the point where people are confusing the two! This isn’t good for the original group, of course she’d take issue with it. Whereas with Jeans/NewJeans, nothing is hurting the original group. Use your head!!!

It really shows how many young kids are heavily invested in this saga and these parasocial relationships with these groups. Anyone who has worked a corporate job especially in the entertainment/advertising media/PR area understand the differences between what NewJeans and the Illit teams have done. This is really grasping at straws. The closest similarity is the hand on the shoulder choreography which was a kids game/dance in the 90s. Hopefully the saga comes to an end quickly. For the next comeback, illit needs to focus on their media strategy and showcase their groups highlights / points of differentiation creatively

I think I flipped my hair like that in a cheer dance routine in 1992. That move isn't new and neither group owns it. Neither is the hand on shoulder knee up particularly unique. Busby featured moves like this in his old school musical and ALL choreographers working modern popular dances would know them or derivatives of them. There's only so many ways to move a body.
