In 1993, my Mom died suddenly, we were very close. The only thing that comforted me were these New Order songs. My kids say I was obsessed with this CD. Love to hear them again. Beautiful!

Regret. That title is scary. I don’t ever want to regret anything. Living in the past lately I have been though. I see the mistake. Today I’m gonna do the things I most am scared to. Like forgive. This song takes me back to a better time. So nieve and innocent. Everything was fresh, exciting , life was not stale. But today it reminds me that I have today. New Order. A chance for new memories

I’ve always loved New Order and their songs have bookmarked my life. I’ve recently been diagnosed with stage IV cancer and am not expected to have very long. It’s so frightening. I know they’re on tour, but the nearest date to me is in October and it’s very possible I won’t be here then. Listening to this reminds me of being so happy and genuinely without a worry in the world. I feel so sad knowing where that young woman was heading. I wish we could just do the happy bits, over and over. x

This song also has deep meaning for me. I remember it when I went to visit Hong Kong before the Handover. Last year I saw New Order in concert with the Pet Shop Boys and it was especially poignant for me as my father was nearing the end of his life. I hope you beat that cancer!!!

That's a stretch lol .. I mean yes... and no... more no than yes Yes there is a very similar riff but the last chord of the pretenders riff is a higher note than this.. and the riff here is is much more prominent in this song. But both are straight up classics. The Pretenders genius is more from my teen years I'm 59, while the New Order era is much more my sisters teen years she's about about 6 years after me.. @@natureclips5849

August 1993, my first time in London with my backpack, staying at Holland Park Youth Hostel. One sunny morning while having breakfast in the hostel I was watching MTV, like many others, and suddenly I had the surprise of a fellow singing "Maybe I forgotten...", and I never forgot New Order's "Regret" because it became the music of that joyful time, of my adventures, of my youth going around and having fun in good old Europe. A very different time, a so clean London having litters everywhere and with people naturally smiling in the parks or squares... Nowadays, we have so much music available at hand on KZbin, but in those times a cassette or an LP was the standard, or just the fortune to get those precious and surprising seconds on MTV. Thank you, fellows!! Best regards from Buenos Aires

Lyrics Maybe I've forgotten The name and the address Of everyone I've ever known, It's nothing I regret Save it for another day, 'cause The school is out And the kids have run away I would like a place I can call my own Have a conversation on my telephone Wake up everyday, that would be a start I would not complain 'bout my wounded heart I was upset, you see Almost all the time You used to be a stranger Now you are mine I wouldn't even trust you I've not that much to give We're dealing in the limits, And we don't know who with You may think that I'm out of hand That I'm naive, I'll understand On this occasion, it's not true Look at me, I'm not you I would like a place I can call my own Have a conversation on the telephone Wake up everyday, that would be a start I would not complain 'bout my wounded heart I was a short fuse Burning all the time You were a complete stranger Now you are mine I would like a place I can call my own Have a conversation on the telephone Wake up everyday, that would be a start I would not complain 'bout my wounded heart Just wait 'till tomorrow I guess that's what they all say Just before they fall apart

One of my special interests has always been rock music, keeping me jacked into these thoughtful and feeling lyrics and sounds probably saved my sanity. Luckily. my car started, and this song came on.Listened and could not get it out of my head for days. I came into the office that day, and told my co-workers, you have got to hear this song by New Order. It became my anthem when winter turned to spring into summer!!!!

You guys know this song is perfect right? I love everything about it. The guitar tone. The short breakdown with handclaps before the chorus, how he sings “conversation” in said chorus. I haven’t even gotten to the meaning of the song, the melody or it’s danceable drum beat...

Absolutely fantastic. I was body surfing at Makapu'u the day this song was released in North America far away from the shore and it is a magical deep water break. When I was on my way over to Sandy Beach (almost the opposite of Makapu'u as normally it has vicious shore break depending on the time of year) I heard this song on the FM station 98 Rock for the first time. I had a great audio set up and cranked it way up. I will never forget that day or this song. The progressions, musicianship, lyrics, odd time signatures, as well as the bass, are literally spellbinding and universal. This song is timeless. Thank you very much.

This is one of the songs I want played at my funeral with no explanation beforehand. A note to the funeral director to play it as the last song and let everyone come to their own conclusion as they leave. Sadly my life has been filled with much regret. If I could only go back and correct some mistakes I made... Live life to its fullest. Take chances, laugh like never before. Forgive quickly. Love yourself and love others too. Life is fragile and far too short.

This song does something to me...and I cannot pinpoint what it is and i sure as hell wish I could. When I hear the opening riff of this song, I just get a chill that runs throughout my body. Perhaps it reminds me of a specific time in my life or memory, but I cannot place what it is. But the feelings are there. It just connects with my brain and does something to me.
