The losses aren't THAT bad all things considered. I'm not too worried cos Thrones sold a LOT and it looks like Omens has too. Good to see that CA are finally waking up to the fact that 1 Warhammer pays the bills, 2 they can't screw up again like before. ​@GorrnLord true, but he's not wrong, just wrong on the details. For media like movies and games, nearly HALF or sometimes even more than half is allocated strictly for marketing the product. Them scrapping a month before launch saved them a solid amount on marketing costs that they would've spent if they tried to actually release that garbage.

Definitely seems like the higher ups were trying to divorce the studio from licensed properties. Probably in the shortsighted desire to keep more of the total profit from the games they make. Licensing fees looking like an unnecessary expense when you're job is to maximize profits can motivate dumb decisions.

Alien Isolation didn't actually sell that well. It wasn't a flop but Sega didn't consider it a success.

Saga said, fairly early in, that it simply didn’t sell enough units to make a sequel financially viable. This shouldn’t be a surprise. When most people play a game after a day of living life, they do it to de-stress and have fun. They want a lower fantasy. They don’t want to be stressed out and frustrated by what is effectively a victimhood simulator. Personally, not that bothered. It was glitch-ridden and constantly AI-cheating in my attempts.

I’d also point out, that it was CA themselves that came up with the idea to make Hyenas, not Sega. Sega are the ones attempting to right the ship after that failure. Not sure I’d be so quick to want CA making all of the decisions

They're not ready to make 40k that won't feel like a cash grab, if the WW1 game 'leaks' are true, this would make sense as a testbed for new technologies and mechanics that would bridge their current competancy and advancements of their engine enough to work as a bouncing off point for 40k later.... And I would be interested in buying if (it's real) it actually revolutionizes total war Also Slaanesh DLC with boobsnake lord and hero mounts👍

I would be cautiously optimistic if they announce 40K Total War next year, but…yeah, it absolutely needs a new engine to properly deal with all the new factors modern/sci-fi warfare would introduce. I would much prefer they use a smaller historical game as a testing ground for all that while finishing up work on WHIII.

It seems like from what we know they've done mostly the correct moves to right the ship. A year of hopefully successful WH3 DLC rhen followed up by 40k along with Alien Isolation stuff has much better prospects than all the other stuff they had planned.

There's still some Skaven and Empire units/regiments/lords/heroes missing, like Thanquol and Verminlords, Middenland rework with Cult of Ulric/Knights of the White Wolf, Dogs of War as a mercenary faction, and some of the LLs like Grimgor, Azhag, and factions like Vampire Counts and Tomb Kings could all do with reworks, additions, or overhauls. They could also develop the End Times as either a big expansion for TWW3 or another fourth standalone if there are plans to move to AoS in the future. It would be weird for them to just start jumping straight to stuff like Araby/Ind/Khuresh or a giant 40k game before doing all of that. The Warhammer branch of the studio will probably be mostly fine no matter what though, considering it's been one of the best selling series on PC the past several years.

Only adding on existing factions will result in the game becoming stale as some would say. New factions breath new life and increase variety and considering how hard they appear to be pushing Grand Cathay to pander to the Chinese market I can understand why people want those factions. Do multiple factions and lords need reworks or overhauls? Yes but in order for those to come the game must still make money otherwise it is a waste of resources.

All dlcs since the last will be tied with Immortla empires map only. Tis map has weird cut corners on all4 edges and huge blank area sof Ind and Khuresh. Dogs of war are all but confirmed to be th enext dlc after Slaanesh ones (probably vs high elves with merwyrms and lotherns skycutter and vampir ecounts with Neferata), Maneater even pronounce "dog of war" during battle. But after that, in 2026, Ind and Khuresh should be added just by logic rules - campaign maps shall not have 1/2 of empty continent.

The fact Three kingdoms never had a Three Kingdoms starting campaign start, killed New Historical titles for me. Clearly just beating around the bush to use the best part of the Three Kingdoms setting as future DLC. The game didn't take off the way they expected but how could you expect it differently? Horrible situation that still leaves a horrid taste in my mouth.

Money is not the only indicator... 2024 saw CA lose its nascent character and culture as a company. Also, the company is far toonslow and bug prone now for its size and resources. It performs worse than much snaller companies on both tempo and quality. Sadly, pun intended, we are seeing the End Times of CA.

Now you know why they want to keep selling you overprices DLC's, be smarter, don't pay for a shitty company's mistakes, Warhammer 3's DLC's cost more then the actual game itself. To make matters worse, their updates brake the game consistently, brake all our mods and to be frank, shouldn't even exist, they turned our beloved strategy game into live service slop. This game came out 3 years ago, we don't need new updates, it should have been fixed by now.

This is stupid, CA earned ton of money on warhammer like DLC's actually need to decrease in value, just to showcase this if 30 000 people bought thrones of decay which was I think around 27e that's 750 000euros, and clearly you don't need even half of that money to finance that DLC (which was best one in whole trilogy), so you can imagine just how much are others overpriced. Not to talk that if you take 3 last DLC like that (SOC,TOD,Omens), its already around 60-75euros, you can buy some new triple AAA game for that money? Can we really make a case that those 3 DLC change game that much?? Not really, new character and units but that's it...CA if they really wanted to make this game work and to be fair they can put 3 DLCS like where they can implement ton of mods and fix features that we need, we could have a feeling like we play warhammer 4, and for me I wouldn't be mad to pay 65-75euros for that since it would have ton of small fixes. But this system as it is its really bad, they started at least fixing factions but its still way to less for the price they ask. So all videos like these talking about their profit and other stuff for me its pointless... and make no sense. These people have bad management and that's it, otherwise they would fix their games a lot sooner and not milk the audience!!

They 100% didn't learn their lesson. Omens of destruction has and is still released with ALLOT of bugs, some game breaking bugs too. Though I'd say one of their biggest issues, for warhammer at least, is that the engine they are using is so old, it's a bloody fossil held together by duct tape and tears.

Because CA were making immortal/mortal empires they had to use the old engine to smoothly transfer existing content to a new game. Upgrading such a huge amount of content is not really an option at this stage, as it is an equivalent of making a new game. It has been confirmed that CA has been working on a new engine for quite a while and their new game (possibly Warhammer 40K) will be made using a new engine.
