I think the best part about all of this is that Newsorama knew they were also a bit caught in their own trap because Christ is BLACK. Sure, they can try to get him with some questions, try to get him to soften up but he's also apart of the 'protected class' shit they set up on their own so there was some caution to this. Let's say they did get Chris to soften up. There would have been someone in their own group who found the way they treated him as problematic and the eating of their own would have begun. It's not just stupid how they tried to get him to go back on his statements but it's also stupid how their own rules can easily backfire on them and in various ways at that. I have a feeling that Chris is aware of how a lot of younger writers, both in comics and the connected 'geek media' act not just around HIM but around fans as well, and how they see creators and fans LIKE HIM (Black) so he was probably prepared for their shifty actions around him, whether it would be cherry picking questions made specifically for him in terms of his race or what they eventually did in trying to get him to recant some of his statements that they didn't seem to take issue with during the original interview. It's all a fucking farce to start some shit that has nothing to do with comics. Who the fuck cares about Biden's stupid slip up? People aren't looking for political shit in a comic about vampires (Well, one that isn't set up to have that sort of message anyway) And when Chris dropped the gender def I seriously went 'DAAAAAAAYUM' because you can tell he's sick of this shit. What does ANY of this shit have to do with the comic he's trying to sell? REALLY?! Well, I can tell you one thing? I'M PICKING THIS BOOK UP NOW!
@Madbandit775 жыл бұрын
Well, it shows something that's been bothering me since Obama admitted that he read comic books and how the industry, particularly Marvel, tried to capitalize on it (and BADLY). There has always been diversity in comics, among readers (I'm an black comic book fan for 30+ years), creators and characters, without the sense of adamant, sociopolitical collectivism. The thing is normies didn't give a shit about the medium, diverse or otherwise. To put Priest, one of the handful of black comic book pros in the industry, on the stop for not thinking "the right way" is insulting because he's been fighting for diversity in the industry before it became chic to do it. That's another thing that troubles me too. Will these SJWs/NPCs/Orwellians/well-meaning fools be committed to making the world better or will they sell out like their parents? I bet it'll be the latter. Obama's admittance of being a fan of comic books is not a cultural epiphany but an example of a sad, racial disconnection, showing that the likes of Arrant don't really know black people.
@SuperCosmicMutantSquid5 жыл бұрын
@@Madbandit77 Can I say something about that though? They at least WAITED until Obama was in the White House before they made those books? They didn't just RUSH IN and make books about him being the President MONTHS BEFORE the election (as far as I can remember. Please correct me if I am wrong). The biggest embarrassment about what happened with the comic book industry during 2016 was they jumped the gun and attempted to use the books as political tools in order to sway the vote. Even before the election, they made it clear who they were voting for and put it into the stories and books, with everything bad being aimed at Republicans and Trump while all the heroes were making not so subtle lines showing their support for Hillary. You NEVER do this, especially even before the election is carried out which makes a so many of those books so hilarious. Like the one where Kamala gets others to vote after beating the 'evil White guys' who were somehow preventing others to do so or some dumb shit. And WHOOPS, Trump got elected ANYWAY. And the result of that was some shitty art piece of Kamala crying as if anything would have effected her ANYWAY which it never would have. The 'Muslim Ban' didn't happen, at least not in the way people had made people so paranoid about since from the way the worst outlets made it, they framed the whole situation where if Trump got in, he would send EVERYONE who is a Muslim out of the country, even if they were a LEGAL CITIZEN. But Marvel and their shit crew went with it in hopes of 'taking a stand' but they made themselves look like idiots in the process. That's why as much as I know people hated the Obama things in comics, I can give them a lot more credit because they had the intelligence to wait for the RESULTS and for the most part, they were mainly one-offs because they knew their audience didn't want to be slapped in the face with politics all the time and just read about heroes. That's the biggest difference between the people who worked then and the chucklefucks we have running the houses today. They have no tact and assume that their audience will swallow their shit just because it's in a comic book but as we can see, the dying sales say otherwise. Comic readers, new and old, don't want this shit and the only way to end the shit is to either step it up, grow some balls and tell the crew to knock this shit out or completely cleanse the offices and find people who know how to balance work and politics and understand that their readers don't want to be lectured.

Christopher Priest is just a very professional writer and he’s respectable as hell. There was an interview about DC and Marvel calling him up to write about characters who were characters of color. He didn’t want to be typecast as a “black writer” since he would write spider-man, Deadpool, and Batman and wanted to be known for writing characters for what makes them a character and not just their skin color. It’s an interesting article. It talks about how he became the writer for Deathstroke rebirth (which is an amazing work by Priest). This interview makes me like Christopher Priest a hell of a lot more and I already liked the guy a lot. But it's like Priest says...I'm just censoring myself... And in today's age, if the outrage group gets into a tizzy about something...that almost guarantees there will be an audience who will accept what I write as the harmless thing it was intended as being; probably spurned on and made more popular by the SJW backlash... I really gotta get out of other people's heads and just write what I think would entertain.

We don’t deserve Christopher Priest. And I don’t even like what I call “boob” comics. It’s a cheesecake book. We are all fine with that. It exists, and either you want it or you don’t. If you do, buy it. If not, go get Squirrel Girl... oh wait, they canceled that. Because NOBODY wants that crap. Or Captain Marvel.. which is on its eighth series I think? Is there a lesson there? I read somewhere Priest emphatically said he can write Spider-Man, Batman, Wolverine, whomever and he has done so in the past. Now he’s turning down work because they only offer him black characters. He finds that offensive, so he says no. Well, good for him, but the man needs to make money so that sucks. I want his bank account to reflect his talent. But in every thing I read either by or about Chris Priest, he’s a gifted and principled man. I respect that.

Man, this was _good._ I’m gonna have to take notes on this as content creator myself! XD And the funny thing is, I don’t care for that kind of hypersexualized stuff myself (nor various stuff that’s less severe than that). But there’s a huge problem with this current culture and types like what Arrant seems to be: They want to have it both ways. There’s been all this stuff about how “empowering” it is to be promiscuous and be a walking peep show, which of course is laughably transparent. It’s like the government telling you how empowering it is for you to pay excessive taxes for them to spend on pet projects. “We swear! We’re doing a favor for YOU!” And I see a lot of sentiment of women wanting to have it both ways: they want sexual attention or sexual license, but then complain about it not going the way they want. You want to show off your breasts, but are mad that a random guy on the street commented on it. Not that I expect you to enjoy that, but it’s the trade-off for flashing everyone you pass. And you sleep with guys easily then are upset when it turns out they didn’t care about you and were using you for the easy sex you willingly gave them. Heck, in some of the recent stuff involving accusations, accusers aren’t saying there was force or anything, they’re saying they were in a “relationship” that involved promises-broken or fulfilled-of professional advancement. They don’t seem to realize they’re essentially admitting they were turning themselves out for career chances and that they were trying to use the other person themselves! But more on the main topic, I’m glad that there’s been some amount of pushback, but I’m only keen on it when it’s from people who are actually honest about it and don’t try to place all the burden on men, which is unequal and sexist itself. If you want men to be gentlemen, that’s only fair if you also want women to be ladies. But this current culture still promotes not only promiscuity but also various sexual behaviors and relationships that are outright harmful, and it promotes plenty of oversexualization itself. I remember Just Some Guy did a video on this chick who likes to spend her time drawing erotic lesbian stuff. Tah. And all this stuff really folds in on itself. This brat wanted to bring up all this gender stuff. Yeah, aren’t the various complaints about behavior from men in general making assumptions about the gender identity and sexuality of males? And isn’t it “Puritanical” (I hate that term) to interfere with and censure men’s sexual expression and behavior? And what about all the queer women like myself? How dare you take this away from us! Isn’t it _empowering_ and inclusive other women-real and fictional-to make themselves available as free peep shows and for us ogle them? How dare they erase queer women and act like males are the only ones who might take an interest here! (Again, I don’t actually support stuff like that, even as an alphabet female myself, lol, but I’m making a point here.) Yeah, the people supporting sexual anarchy and outright medically harmful shizz can’t even keep their own bull straight, and even when they take valid positions, it’s hard to feel much support for them, because they’re being such bloody hypocrites, and they’re such jerks overall. It’s like how their supposed “representation” they want a pat on the back for tends to be awful and insulting. Heck, the “diverse” shizz I’ve seen put out by people inside and outside some of my own creative circles literally fulfills stereotypes and imagery favored by White supremacist mindsets! They’ll feature degradation, humiliation, emasculation, and other things involving non-White characters, and from an APPROVING standpoint, and act like that’s a bloody favor. Reminds me of how it turned out that their darling Justin Trudeau, Mr. Nice Canadian himself, had done both Blackface and Brownface. He’s such a fitting representative with these pseudo-enlightened racist jackoffs. There’s a reason I’m increasingly skeptical of people claiming to be so concerned about the plights of Black people and others. -.-

Funny thing is a feminist created vampirellas outfit in 1969. So it’s kinda hard for people to cry and say it’s disrespectful when it was a woman that made it.
