Comedian Rosie O’Donnell, who has been advocating for Lyle and Erik Menendez for years, is happy to know that the Los Angeles County District Attorney is reviewing the case of the brothers who have served more than three decades in prison for killing their parents. O’Donnell, appearing on “CUOMO” with the Menendez brothers’ attorney Mark Geragos, says that, back then, “no one was ready to believe that fathers raped their sons. But they do.”

in one of the documentaries Diane (I think is one of the female cousin`s name?) mentioned when speaking to Erik right after the 2nd trial, she said she`s sorry for everything and he said sth like "..don`t worry Diane, I can finally sleep in here at night..."...Can you imagine, you are feeling better in jail rather than your home? its not only about removing a threat. it is also about punishing rightfully. even if this rape accusation was true, and the only proof is this weird letter to a deceased cousin. and this kind of murder being premeditated, they could havemade a false accusation just in case, they were adults and they could have left and even have sought justice. more importantly, their mother was killed. in fact she was massacred, so that the police would believe in an attack by an outsider. there was no reason to kill the mother. actually there was one reason. had she not died, they would not have inherited their parents fortune. and after the death of their parents, they spent the money very happily. there was not much trauma. in other words i suspect a lot of BS.

Why didn’t that Menudo kid give that declaration 30 years ago? OK; if not 30 years ago, how about 20 years ago? Or even 10 years ago? it’s not like his career would’ve been ruined if he came out with this 20 years ago. He was well past his prime, as an child entertainer. Or even after when l Ricky M. came out, he could’ve came forward.

@@Exiled.New.Yorker Of course he probably would not have been believed in 1995. nor in 2000. But whenever Ricky M. came out of the closet (in the mid 2000s) that Menudo kid’s story with definitely have been more believable (especially since it’s by Lyle’s and Eric’s dad, which is the exact history that the kid is claiming happened to him). & if he gave that statement after that MeToo movement came out (Over Several years ago) & he would of definitely been more believable. If everything he’s saying is true, it’s a shame he didn’t come clean with this 10 years ago. I think in 2024, (35 years after this tragedy happened) he’s attributing keeping two people (if wrongly fully) in jail, for way way too long, by not coming forward earlier.

there no excuse to murder your parents... didnt the father and mother have family that supported the brothers? I believe they did. yes they should have walk out and move in with there other family because you give out a message to other children to murder their parents if they were abused. i think thats why the Jurors voted guilty but at the same time they could have moved out of the house... i do believe they will be out.. they do have remorse what they did and wish their parents were alive as they stated and said if they had to do it over again they would have walked out and said they love both parents very much when barbara walters interview them.

So, if I understand this, they believe they should have been charged with manslaughter? Therefore, their sentence would not have been life? But, but, if you buy guns AHEAD of killing someone, planning to kill your parents, isn't that premediated murder? I know all about being SA. I was from the age of 7, by my father. My mother told me in 2012 that she knew. She told me she would hear me yelling to come get dad away from me. This went on until I was 13. My parents weren't rich. I left my house when I turned.18. They said they feared for their lives. Jose was a powerful man and they couldn't go to the police, no one would believe them. Killing someone, especially your parents, is not a solution. My father passed in 2004 and my mother in 2022. What was done to me left life long trauma and two attempts at s*icide.. But I'm not in prison for doing something like murder. And question, if they were to get out, is there money coming to them, after all these years? The spending, near $700k, some sources say, after the killings, was something that left everyone believing they did it for the money, regardless of the SA they suffered, which most believe was a defense strategy. No one knows what went on in that house, even though there were people who testified they knew as well. I was in my 30's before I told anyone. People see you differently, I know that. And those young men would have been seen differently, which is why the public didn't believe them. They were boys, not girls, being assaulted.

Voluntary manslaughter Occurs when the defendant had the same intent to kill as murder, but there were special circumstances. For example, if someone kills a cheating spouse in the heat of passion. Manslaughter is generally 15 years or so prison sentence.
@catlady1084
@catlady1084 8 сағат бұрын
@@lisapellegrino7617 But, IMO, this wasn't heat of passion. They planned this. So, that is voluntary manslaughter? But it is not for me to say. It's a legal issue to be fought in the courtroom. All the power to them. 35 years is a very long time in prison.

@lisapellegrino7617
@lisapellegrino7617 7 сағат бұрын
@@catlady1084 Heat of passion is but one example of a mitigating circumstance that may reduce murder to manslaughter. Self defense is another and that is that one that was used at the first trial. Female juror on record stating that the men on the jury didn’t think males could be SA’d. Defendants in this case after suffering so much SA, and confronting the abuser had sincere belief he would kill them. I am an attorney btw. No way CA spends more money bringing this case for a third time. In fact, they recently changed their laws and are looking to release those that have been rehabilitated. In a case like this, where the men don’t pose a threat to society at large, it doesn’t make sense for the state, aka taxpayers, to pay for them to be incarcerated for their entire lives.

They were 21 and 19 at the time of murdering their parents. If there was abuse why didn't they simply walk away? Coz that's not the truth. They wanted the money, parents refused, coz they were failing in every aspect of life, so they killed em. This wasn't even their first crime, they tried robbery before this, but turned out they were failures in that too. Millions are languishing in prisons on no charges or false charges and we are wasting the resources on these two parent killing spoiled brats.

Really no one owes anyone any proof! No offence but you aren't in the court? This is what is wrong with the world. The people judge the criminal when it is the job of the courts. Trial by social media is so wrong. @sallywoolverton9147

Does anyone you know take naked CLOSE UP photos of your 6 and 9 year olds genitalia, just curious cause those parents did and the photos were shown with a blurry spot in the first trial, and the hand writing on the envelope was mom’s… That is just one fact, and today that is called CSAM which could put you in prison for life… They did not know the photos still existed and found after the fact, and there are way worse things that happened but I just picked one for an EXAMPLE‼️

I still don’t believe the rape claims 😂😂😂 and I dispute the notion that back then people wouldn’t believe a father molesting their children or son. That’s a load of BS. These two killers had 2 trials…….. what I’m hearing today is, yes they are guilty of murder but………….. I don’t even hear this excuse being used for underage girls who kill their pimp.
