Democrats are literally the opposite of all those things, hense the differing political party. I think its obvious that Republicans grew up in good, stable households, that uphold the law.

I was a bartender and a Train Conductor and I was able to sign to my deaf customers because my aunt is deaf and she taught me as a kid how to communicate with her. It's pretty cool when a hearing impaired customer discovers that you can communicate with them. The sense of relief (especially the traveling public) because they're trying to get somewhere and the fear of ending up in the wrong place must be frightening. It also helps me help them. I recommend everyone especially POLICE take sign courses. Did you know that the deaf are terrified of police? Because they cannot hear an officers commands they are at higher risk of being shot or arrested. So, to be a police officer, I feel that being able to communicate with the deaf is important and one class could make all the difference.

@charleanastasia5557
@charleanastasia5557 Жыл бұрын
@kim cho exactly my point. Imagine being in a country where you cannot understand a word of their language, Now, further complicate the inability to understand. Not only can you not understand their words, but you can't understand the tone of their voices. You can't decipher the urgency in their command, the panic in their tone of voice, warning you that you're making them nervous because you're not complying. (Because you can't- you don't know what they want). You can't communicate. And you reach into your pocket for your phone to translate for you... the officer misunderstandings your movements because his experience with you is that you're non-compliant. What happens next? More often than not, in a panic, you're shot. One college class American Sign Language (ASL) could save lives, help officers communicate with the deaf and helping the officer by him or her not having to live with killing an innocent person just because they couldn't hear you.

This goes for medical professionals as well, I can fingerspell (which is the most basic sign language skill that honestly everyone should know) and when i had surgery and couldn't speak afterwards, I tried communicating with the nurses that way as I was waking up from anesthesia, and no one could really understand me. It was very scary and I can't imagine how much scarier it'd be if I couldn't even hear what the nurses were saying.

@john wallace It's a nightmare for those of us who are hard of hearing, that's for sure. Thankfully, my hearing issues are mild enough that with more focus and practice, I've been able to breeze by just getting the gist of what people are saying, but I still have to avoid loud environments. Otherwise, my biggest crutch is gone and all I hear is a blur of indistinguishable noises with nothing to help give some clarity.

More schools should offer Sign Language as an elective, my daughter took it for 2 yrs., I wish she would have continued. Kenneth Ho Came in the comments section to say exactly what you did. I've taken a few years of ASL myself and studied Deaf culture. There is a SERIOUS misconception as to how Deaf people interact in this world. Hearing people can make every effort to communicate with them but most choose not to. Deaf people can't do the same in return which leaves the hearing more lost than anyone because most people don't realize the importance of learning the language.

My friends Grandpa was deaf and she lived with him. I wanted to come over but I was kinda nervous because I couldn’t communicate with him So I learned sign language in 6months I never told her I was learning Then I asked to go over and when I went over her grandpa introduced himself in sign language and I did sign language my friend was in shock And then I started talking about myself in sign language and she started tearing up I told her this whole six months I was learning sign language. She started crying because she said I’ve never had a friend who has done that ♥️

yeah but cosidering the mental process in signing is greater than with spoken language, it does become a little more than someone having a conversation, and besides, isnt it nice to occasionjhally see what somebody did to help out another human being, or are you of the opinion that only videos that show people being rude nasty and aggressive to others is what we should all be watching, arent you tired of that crap yet?

I had to help with a deaf man, him and his buddy was in the drive through and I signed "you're deaf?" And he nodded so excited but still used text and it made my day. The people in the drive thru at the intercom was so rude though. I had to tell them "well I apologise but I'm taking care of a deaf customer, if you did not want to wait you could have left" god.

I kind of get the why do ppl make the news for being nice tho. I just treat ppl like ppl. Im never rude until ppl r rude to me. Other times, u prob just caught me in a bad mood. I try to keep it under wraps. But at worst, im prob just stand offish, quiet, look annoyed, I might try to cut u off, or my tone might be off. I even go out ofmy way to avoid any interaction sometimes. But im never outright rude. Not for the most part. I dont got sh to prove to most. Theres no reason y I would treat anyone different. Although, I am immature sometimes. Theres def stuff I say, that I shouldn't be saying. Actually, if someone tried making a vid of some random act of my kindness, id cringe little like im not always that nice tho, fr

@@user2j3ycg4df Sadly most people have an extreme inability to deal with being wrong. If a person would have known that the customer was deaf beforehand, they might not have said anything, but since they complained not knowing that the customer was deaf, and therefore embarrassed themselves, most people will double down and make a scene because they don't know how to fail gracefully. It's a lost art.
