And, yes, I think it's almost certain that these murders would not have happened if he hadn't been allowed to. One thing thats perhaps not clear from the reporting is that hes still not caught. That county has been in lockdown, people not allowed to leave wherever they are at, since 8pm last night. We live 30min south and our kids are missing education today. I think if the wider impacts, especially economic impacts, were reported on and part of the discussion there would be more will to fix this. As it is all the people with power think "oh it will never happen to me" than "the kids in my state lose three days every year of their education because of gun violence"

How do you expect law enforcement to be there 24 7, on every street corner, in every building in every city? The only way youd manage that is by enlisting the military and envoking curfews. My apartment building is one mile from a mental health facility. I have seen mild cases of mental illness, and extreme cases. When you have Counselors, and Mental Health works that are on the level as the clients. Nothing is going to change. It's our government officials with restrictions on how these people are treated that put us all in danger. You can prescribe medication for people, but if they don't take it then what? A majority of our public officials have mental illness, and yet they are the one's making the law's. Doesn't sound smart to me.
