DK Danis It’s a matter of your perception of maintenance. The Germans do not have the same definition of maintenance that the Japanese and the Americans do. If you maintain your German car the way the Germans describe it, it will last a long time and cost you many times the price of the vehicle in maintenance costs. The Japanese, especially Honda and Toyota, create engines that require extremely small amounts of maintenance to reach the same mileage. The Americans build cars that are very cheap and disposable, drive them until the wheels come off and get another one cheaply. That is precisely the difference between the design and maintenance philosophies.

@@santiagoperez2094 Yes just simply tear down engine and replace every single seal and then replace your whole cooling system at regular intervals or you're just ASKING for trouble 🙄

@Ben Church 335 diesel isn't ment to be driven like ultimate racing machine lol. You asked for it probably... even Lamborghini or Ferrari service intervals are more common than a regular city car by far... Also understandably far more expensive to fix. Any car on this world till September 2020 will suffer if you push them to a limits.

production looks very beautiful and promising. But the truth is the chain not double like in older versions, only single. That means the engine after 150 K will surely have problem. Such hidden programmed failures only in engine very much

I thought that BMW have solved the timing chain Problems with the new B47. My Uncle have this Engine in his BMW F30 and he has done 300000km with without any Problem(only egr Valve but this was recalled by BMW). In my 118d this Engine runs fine.

Dominik BA F11 520D B47 2014 owner here :-) Yes they fixed the dreaded n47 timing chain problem. 226k miles from new and still going strong. Only problem i’ve had was my compressor for the suspension that i had to change.
