Tales of the Abyss remake is long overdue, but a trademark doesn't guarantee that it's next in line. It's also possible that the old trademark expired and this is just a renewal. Xillia being next is still a strong possibility. Also you stated that we never got Phantasia officially in the west, but we did. We had the abridged GBA version and a more complete iOS version based on the PS1 remake.

Tales of the Abyss is Japan's favorite Tales game. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets something more than a remaster treatment, although like with all full remakes I really hope they don't ruin the vibe of the original in the process of making it "modern"

Just in case, in the 2000s-2012 Namco used to continously "revive"/file in the trademark of their released mothership titles or future ones to come (They trademarked four titles the year that we got Graces revealed, for example). Thus, the trademark may not be 100% guarantee of what's next, that said, I think the obvious choice is either Abyss or Xillia 1-2, they are both 3D, easier to port because they are more recent and the work is basically done for them localization-wise.

⁠​⁠@@mooserocka522the 3DS version was more than 10 years ago, and it is a worse version than the PS2 than the PS2 except for the load times, and it is a better game than Xillia. Xillia it’s a more recent, he’ll even Xillia 1 it’s more recent than Abyss for 3DS. The Xillia games for sure will come eventually, fo Abyss we were not sure because of its age so I am glad this will be hopefully next.

Feels like it's the one game if the Trinity they forget about. Last appearance on the 3ds whereas vesperia and Symphonia have been rereleased like 5 different times each. Super excited for this one as it's probably the best game in the series

Abyss is absolutely the one I wanted next! I just replayed it on PS2 a few months ago and it still holds up perfectly today. It will benefit the most from a remaster on modern hardware. Next I want Eternia and Phantasia! Especially a localized PSP Phantasia version.

I’m LITERALLY at the end of the game for PS2! This is both the best and worst time for me!! I was thinking that I hope Abyss would get a remaster, but it looks like that would become reality! We didn't get it in the UK for the PS2, but we got it for the 3DS. I played it on the real hardware in the past, and the game is really awesome!

About Eternia needs a remaster with a PROPER DUB but for some reason when you fight Reid in Abyss and Farah in Symphonia the games KEPT their Eternia dubbed names IE Sonic Blade for Reid and NOT the PROPER Demon Fang/Fist move. So Eternia needs a proper dub WITH the correct skill names for Reid and Farah in fact MOST of Regals moves in Symphonia Farah can use only Farah doesn't use the PROPER dubbed names of any of her moves.

About that they were 2 PSP versions of Phantasia 1 of which added a totally useless Narikiri dungeon X party member to it but the only reason that party member is crap is because she leaves the party PERMANENTLY right before the final boss but THAT version of Phantasia is pretty much a PORT of the Fully Voiced Edition with that useless NDX party member added to the game.

When I was pregnant with my second baby, I was laid up with super swollen feet and really only passed the time playing games on my PS2. I played DQ8 and TotA for the first time during that. And I liked them both, but... guess what my second oldest is named? Jade Noelle. After my favorite characters from Abyss!! What's super awesome is that my Jade LOVES Tales of the Abyss now!! She's 16, and she loves the anime and the game. Mieu, Tear, and Jade are her favorite characters. She has it for her 3DS. :D

I only ever truly 100% symphonia and abyss and put a few dozen hours in the others, so I'm super hyped for Abyss. If Tales of Grace F is anything to go by, it should get a very solid remaster. And if they continue them only being $40 on current gen systems I'll be buying every single one!
