Don't get the wrong idea here - yes I know this is from 2002 and I've said my cutoff is 1994 :) I actually WAS still following the Niners up to about this game before they completely derailed in 2003 and then I gave up entirely. Anyways I grabbed this Game-Of-The-Week from Hulu WAY back in 2011 when NFL Films had a channel there for about 3 months. I upscaled the 720x400 copy to 1080p, sharpening the picture in the process. Used Da Vinci Resolve to re-grade the color, removing a yellowish hue that was present

Make whatever you like! Those 90s games were not in HD. I watched these games as a teenager on a CRT TV 📺. The fact that you make high-quality HD content is a blessing. The game changes almost, if not every season. 2002 was very different from 2022. It would be great to see that 49ers Patriots preseason hall of fame game of Brady vs Geovani Carramazi. Maybe the 49ers vs Jets Garrison Hearst OT run game. Some classic 49ers vs Eagles battles. 49ers vs Michael Vick games How about the 5 interceptions vs Peyton Manning, and throw in the complete "Playoffs??? Are you kidding me? Playoffs?" speech.

I know it isn't a game, but do you have the complete Herman Edwards "You play to win the game" presser? That was taken offline a long time ago, and now I can only find clips and highlights. I swear that he had some crazy side rant after that, which everyone forgets because of the most popular part.

This 2002 posting of mine is an anomaly - I just happened to have this copy because I grabbed it 13 years ago from Hulu. There will be nothing else I will ever post on this channel that is past 1994 for Niners games or 1989 for everything else because I abhor the NFL pretty much after that.

You know what? I misspoke :) I DO have three more 'Greatest Games' shows from Hulu that are post-1994 that I will try to post soon. Forgot about those, lol.

Excellent restoration. I remember the short period Hulu had the NFL Films library online for a while too. Wish I knew had to siphon videos back then. I have this 2002 GOTW in addition to others from that era, but not in this quality. Thanks for the face lift.

@@davevolskysbackdoor5673 haha, I love it still. Even though this is in the early 2000’s, football was still good at this time. It was around 2010 when the league started messing up and throwing flags for just breathing on the QB. Then throwing flags on hits on “defenseless players”. It’s now getting to the point that they should just play flag football.

@JerseyGrove that’s true. The Bucs and the Eagles were the class of the NFC that year. I remember recording that game from the TV on my VHS. Once the Giants missed the field goal I took the tape out and smashed it on the floor.

@JerseyGroveThe Bucs defense from 1997-2008 was unreal and stacked. Multiple HOF players and in the salary cap era, it was a testament to them that they kept much of that group together for so long.

BTW I really miss the GOTW spotlights from this era. The Steve Sabol intros, and the Scott Graham voice overs were gold. Show lost it's luster when it was scaled back to a half hour. Then it was pulled entirely.

Yeah, it was all *so* good. My favorite thing NFL Films ever did, covering my favorite era of football (also just a few years after I started following the sport, so make of that what you will). Wish they were still getting made.

As an Eagles fan, I thoroughly enjoyed this game. I also didn't think we'd be joining the Giants on the couch 2 weeks later...

31:40 Terrell Owens was an insanely gifted athlete, but it is pathetic that a grown man like him had to be coaxed, cajoled and baby-sat to keep his head right in challenging situations. And this has somehow become the template for wide receivers in today's NFL. Beyond belief.

People forget how good Jeff Garcia was. If TO's personal issues didn't derail that chemistry, we might have gotten another superbowl. Maybe.

@@davevolskysbackdoor5673Great player, but I think something was legitimately psychology wrong with him in the head. He may have had clinical bipolar disorder or something or maybe he got too much of the devil in him after being a young rich and pampered athlete for so long, I don't know.

As a Bucs fan, i remember this one well. I was listening to it on the radio and was thinking about the media circus about Ronde and Tiki Barber playing each other in the playoffs and then the 49ers came back and yes, there probably should have been a penalty on that fire scramble play. That said, the 49ers gave up towards the end of the first half the following week in Tampa whem they had timeouts and time left and let the clock run out instead. T.O. was incensed.

This is a great upload of the single worst experience I've had as a Giants fan. I appreciate this one as a fan of the game b/c it was an incredibly wild game between 2 very talented (but flawed) teams. Aside from Shockey, the Giants completely whiffed on the 2002 draft, the roster imploded the next season & Jim Fassel never got another head coaching gig. The 49ers entered their lowest period after this as well--it seems that the flaws in both sides long-term were too much to overcome.
