This was one of the greatest runs in NFL history. The Giants, a wild card team, had to win 3 games on the road to get to the Super Bowl, then they beat an undefeated Patriots team. Remarkable.

On the road. Playing 3 teams that had byes, including both 1's. In the reg season NYG went a combined 0-4 against their playoff opponents. They then beat an 18-0 team, making the pkay off the century in the process. Everyone is going to get amped up about their team's run, and they should, but there was nothing like what the 2007 NYG did.

The 2007 Giants were easily one of the grittiest teams in NFL history. The epic journey they had to take to get to Super Bowl XLII was astonishing. They had to play on the road the whole time, including this game, which I think was or is the second coldest game in NFL history, only the '67 Ice Bowl was colder. Other than Super Bowl XLII, This game was also really awesome, just because of the conditions they had to play in.

Bryan O Connor I like to say about the 2007 Giants: Only Odysseus in Homer's epic 'The Odyssey' had a more difficult journey than the 07 Giants had to get to the Championship.

Goombah Marcel Don't even bring up 01 patriots. But the 10-6 WC Giants played the 10-6 Buccs away, the 12-4 cowboys away, the 13-3 packers (I think) away in sub zero temp, and to top it all off beat the 18-0 patriots away as well. No other team has had a more difficult journey in the playoffs.

Steven Manning the 2010 Packers is also one of the best playoff runs i can remember. As a packer fan i thought we wouldnt make playoffs..then when we did make playoffs wasnt expecting to go all the way..if Rodgers had solid Defense probably would have been super bowl much more n more rings than Favre..he still has good 5 years left i think in him..we shall see.

As a Giants fan, This was truly the game that inspired me and truly made me think, that the Giants could win it all in 2007. I will never forget that moment Lawrence Tynes kicked the ball through the posts in the swirling winds and bitter cold of the frozen tundra of lambeau field!!! That gave me hope to witness the first Giants Super Bowl Championship in my lifetime and just two weeks later on February 3 2008, we bring it to the undefeated Patriots and win it all!!!

After their 2nd Super Bowl win, their O-Line & Defense became depleted with the core of the team retiring and then to get rid of Coughlin and to bring in horrible coaches... then to have receivers who keep dropping passes... it doesn't help Eli's Efficiency and QB rating.

His numbers are at best AVERAGE? He retired top 10 in yards, completions and TDs, just behind Dan Marino in all categories. Average. As any NYer would say, GTFOH!!
@tomknapp6194
@tomknapp6194 Жыл бұрын
@@nedneedlemeyer3615 Yeah, playing16 years with even below average results will do that. He had a top 10 passer rating once in 16 years. He was below the NFL average 9 times. He was 3.8 or less over the NFL average in 5 of the other 7 times. So, in 16 years, he had 2 years that were somewhat over the average. I don't see in what universe that makes a QB great. In 2018, Eli's last full year, I did a comparison between Eli and Ben Roethlisberger and Philip Rivers and they were al 6th, 7th, and 8th all time. Only BR needed 807 FEWER attempts to have more yards and more TDs than Eli. That's almost 2 fewer seasons worth of attempts to have more than Eli. PR needed 972 fewer attempts to have more TDs and slightly fewer yards. And that's basically Eli's career. His stat to make the most top 10 each season? Attempts. Not yards. Not completion percentage. Not yards/attempt. Not TDs. Not TD percentage. Just attempts. That alone shouldspeak volumes.

@@esdeathisbae9480 If I told you that your defense is going to hold the opposition to an average of 15.1 points/game, none over 20, and an opposing passer rating of 74, do you like your chances of winning or not? Oh, yeah, Eli still barely managed to win 5 of 8 games. And 2 of those games went to overtime in which Eli was a ghost on the "game winning drive" that he received credit for. In fact, in 7 plays on those drives, he was 0/1, yards. And everyone was saying how Eli won the game.

As a packers fan this game haunts me forever. God damn favre Ryan grant was wide open for a dump off pass right infront of you! We were given every opportunity to be in this game and we still blew it. One hell of a game for the giants fans. Brandon Jacobs or Ahmad Bradshaw set the tone this game by running over al Harris. This game broke my heart especially this is how favre went out as a packer. Regardless tho good game this is a NFL classic coming from the losing end. I bit the bullet and rooted for the Giants to beat the pats this year. That was the best sb finish I ever viewed to this date. This gmen team underlooked they also beat a really good Dallas team on the road as well.

Do you think the Packers would have survived against the 18-0 Pats? The main reason they lost to the Giants was because they had played against each other weeks before and the Giants had an insane blitz defense (that was also reading Brady's play changes from the line of scrimmage). I wanted the packers to win this because I'm certain my Pats would have gone 19-0. Giants were the WORST team they could have faced in SB 42. Cowboys or Packers would have been just fine, plus Brady vs Favre? Now that's a dream matchup that will never be.

@@michaelkirschner6009 What did Eli actually do? In 2007, he played the Cowboys, Packers, and Patriots in both regular season and postseason. The Giants defense was destroyed in those 4 games, giving up an average of 38 points, Romo scored 4 TDs twice, Favre also had 4 TDs, and only 1 game was not a double digit loss. Then in the playoffs, Eli averages LESS per game than those blowouts and he's the hero? Not the defense, that handed Romo, Favre, and Brady one of their worst games of the year...... And Eli still barely managed to win. In fact, that's the story of Eli's playoff career. In 5/8 games, he had to rely on pro bowl QBs to absolutely not show up and still win by 4 or less points. 2 of those went to overtime. Eli's combined overtime stats for those 2 games were 3/7, 17 yards, 1 sack for -10 yards, so 7 yards total. And on the "game winning drives" that Eli received credit for, out of 7 snaps, not including the actual FG, Eli was a combined 0/1. Credit for 2 game winning drives for literally doing nothing. Eli was 100% carried by the defense through most of those playoffs. Outside of that, he was below average for 16 years. Those are the facts, and Eli should never be mentioned in the same breath as the HoF except how he should never be in it.
