The crazy thing about this 04 Colts offense vs 07 Patriots vs 13 Broncos. Edgerrin James going over 1500 yards with the crazy pass attack. Edge now when you think about it. He's becoming more underrated as the years goes by. He played in a time where Shuan Alexander, Ladanian Tomlinson, Clinton Portis, Ricky Williams, Fred Taylor, Priest Holmes, Tiki Barber, Jamal Lewis were running wild against defense. IMO Bradon Stokley was the Wes Welker before Wes Welker and of course Austin Collie who was drafted in 2009 and not in this game pre injury was Julian Edleman before Julian. Peyton could've easily gone over 50 this season. Him sitting out against Denver in week 17. Cost him 2-4 extra TD given what he did to that defense a week later in the wildcard round.

The Colts had a choice between Peyton and Ryan Leaf, and Edgerrin James and Ricky Williams. Much debate was around those choices and at the time, I'm sure there were those who thought they made the wrong choice. Turns out they made 2 of the greatest draft choices in franchise history, and in Manning's case, one of the greatest draft choices in NFL history. You really never know when a draft pick will set your franchise backwards or forwards for the next decade. In fairness, Ricky Williams was far from a bust, but Edge clearly proved to be the more reliable RB if not the better RB overall.
@josephvanhorn53473 жыл бұрын
Culpepper low key had one of the best seasons any quarterback ever had that season. But the Vikings had a bad defense and Peyton Manning happened to have THE best season any quarterback ever had up to that point. Cuplpepper was 2nd to Manning in most important categories or was at least 3rd. He lead the league in passing yards with 4,717 and tacked over 400 more on the ground. Culpepper didn’t have nearly the same weapons that Peyton did, either. Other than Randy Moss, who didn’t even try, he didn’t have much. Moss had less than 1,200 receiving yards for the first time in his career and he didn’t even reach 800 for the entire year. Nate Burleson and Jermaine Wiggins both had career years in 2004 thanks to Culpepper. Onterrio Smith lead the team in rushing yards with 544 and the team only had 8 rushing touchdowns all season. 2 were by Culpepper. Those went along with his 39 through the air. The Vikings offensive line sucked, too. Culpepper was sacked 46 times that season. Culpepper would never start more than 7 games in a season again and lost 22 of his final 27 games in the league. So weird.

How disappointing were the colts with Peyton. They had all the talent in the world yet only one title with Manning. And the lone super bowl win only came because the patriots had no receivers in 2006 and then they got to face rex grossman and the bears. Maybe it was coaching because I do think tony dingy was highly overrated.
@dionw16444 жыл бұрын
To counter your argument, the colts (whom are my favorite team) feasted on teams that didn't play peyton often to get his mannerisms down and have that familiarity with him like the teams in the afc, them couple that with the fact most of those playoff runs the colts were the worst defense in the afc if not the whole playoffs, lost to mostly great teams aside from that jets drubbing in 02 and 00 loss to the dolphins.

REALLY wish more TV announcers would do this instead of running off at the mouth about stuff that sounds stupid or is irrelevant. I don’t mind the occasional anecdote or maybe a related stat or something. But radio announcers just break things down and get you engaged.
