Aesthetically, the Super Bowl has no better venue than the Rose Bowl. The game starts in the daylight in the bright sunshine, fades out, the beautiful grass with the San Gabriel mountains as the backdrop...it's perfect. The Bills simply had the misfortune to be the AFC's best team at the same time the NFC was at the peak of its dominance. They show up 5 years earlier or later and they likely get a couple titles.
@jc225582 жыл бұрын
I'm not so sure about that. They were not the '80s Broncos who were severely overmatched each time they made it to the Super Bowl. Yes, the NFC was loaded during this period (14 straight Super Bowl wins from '84-'96), but the Bills were often the architects of their own demise. In Super Bowl XXV, Jim Kelly's inability to recognize the Giants dropping 8 men into coverage cost them the game. Thurman Thomas averaged 9 yds per carry, but only got 15 carries. Kelly arrogantly kept trying to throw the ball and play their uptempo offense even after it was clear that it wasn't working. Super Bowl XXVI was the biggest mismatch in talent of the four games even though it wasn't the biggest blowout. Washington was superior in nearly every way to Buffalo and ground them into a pulp. Had they not taken their foot off the gas by running the ball to burn clock after taking a 24-0 lead, Washington easily could've scored over 50 points. Super Bowls XXVII and XXVIII are all about turnovers. Buffalo should have been in both games but they constantly shot themselves in the foot. Dallas scored 49 points off of turnovers between the two games! After Thurman Thomas fumbled at the beginning of the second half in Super Bowl XXVIII, the Bills laid down and died. That's the moment when great teams get up off the mat and answer the bell.

That 3rd and 16 conversion which led to the Novacek touchdown changed that game. Before that Cowboy drive, Kelly threw an interception to James Washington which would lead to 9 turnovers later on. The Cowboys finally had all their pieces of the puzzle in place. They beat the best team in the 49ers at Candlestick and the Cowboys were just too fast and good. The Cowboys had the number one defense and on offense the league's leading rusher in Emmitt Smith. The Cowboys just got all those turnovers and converted most of them into touchdowns. This proved to the world that the Cowboys were going to be a force for the next few years and they were.

History remembers this as the crowning of the new Cowboys run on top. But like Jimmy Johnson, for me that had come in the NFC title game against the 49ers. I know a lot of people thought this could be a sneaky competitive team and even dared to think the Bills might be the ol' 'team of destiny' after the Houston comeback and then two low key dominant wins in Pittsburgh and Miami for the AFC title. But this to me was a fun epilogue and I legitimately was more excited to see what Michael Jackson was going to do for the halftime show. I fully expected the Cowboys to blow Buffalo off the field the same way Washington had the year before...and it happened.

Pretty much the last time my family was all together was this game. Nothing was wrong, life seemed ok. I was just a kid at the time. Our grandparents were the kings of our family and they kept it together…. But after they passed…. While I was going back and forth to Iraq. Nobody wanted to be a family anymore.

Of all 4 Superbowls that Buffalo lost, the one vs the NYG is the one they should've won. A missed FG is what won NYG that game. Just like in 2007 & 2011... The NYG GOT LUCKY!

Who cares, all Super Bowl-winning teams need some combination of skill, talent, and....luck. You think the Giants feel sorry for the Bills or the Patriots? NO. They EARNED those Super Bowl rings any way you slice it. Their opponents made mistakes which cost them. You CAN'T take away those Giants SB championships so STOP even bothering to try. It's a wasted effort.

Super bowl 32 please

I loved the Helicopter especially, TD also got MVP by playing through injury, Elway won his first ring after 3 losses, they upset a 11 point favorite Packers, and they ended the NFC’s 13 year streak of super bowl wins. And the game came down to a defensive stop by the Broncos at the end, so it was close the whole way through. Easily top 5 SB.

9 turnovers by the bills. That's all that needs to be said

Horrible. No wonder the bills lost 52-17.

Poor Bills. They were a great team that happened to face the NFC at their peak. Then Once the NFC faded a guy named Tom came along. And now Brady’s gone and the AFC has the most dominant QB lineup in a long time. Maybe Allen can get them to the promised land but I’ll believe it when I see it.

There is no more beautiful setting in sports than The Rose Bowl at dusk. The Super Bowl should be held there again.

I agree, it was gorgeous to play in the rose bowl.

Agreed but with all the rules the NFL makes host stadiums and areas meet and the new LA stadium I doubt it'll happen, there's next to no parking at the Rose Bowl but I agree it's an incredibly beautiful and historic venue/setting

I’ve watched all four Bills Super Bowl games back. They lost to 4 very good teams and in 3 of the 4 games they were throughly outplayed. But the one common denominator is Jim Kelly was awful. He was horrible in all the games and he absolutely cost his team from ever winning the BIG ONE. One of the most overrated QBs in NFL history.

Buffalo had two chances of winning this game, slim and none. And slim left town.

TBH had Miami beat Buffalo the week prior in the AFC Title game, Miami may have given Dallas some headaches cause of Marino

Buffalo just couldn't get right after blowing it against the Giants. Each year after that was more pathetic than before.
