Gotta love EA soundtrack censorship, where EA has the studios pick super explicit songs about all kinds of edgy subjects for use in E and T rated games, and then mute half of the song’s vocals to make them “suitable” for said E and T rated games. This often leads to some really cringy and funny moments with awkward pauses in the vocal track…

6:47 truth be told; I believe Hot Pursuit 2 on PS2 was one of EA's best racing games. Extreme variety and quantity of cars and tracks, difficult cops and semi real handling of cars makes it easy to control and predict it's behavior. And the tracks allowed for high speed cornenring, straights and to a degree drifting. I never felt a racing game that gave so many options in so many colorful environments that put most if not all open world racing games to shame. This one deserves a reboot.

This game on ps2 suprisingly influenced me so much back in the day and even now. It was the first ever racing game i played and i loved it, back then and even today i consider it to be the best racing game iv ever played hell maybe my favorite overall game. Hp2 really gave me a love for cars and gaming in general. It was truly a gateway for my future interests and hobbies to such extent that i bought a 25k 03 mustang Cobra and moded it to look like the Cobra R in game, wing and all, just because it was my favorite car in game and so that i could relive those childhood memories, this time in the actuall car listening to the games ost.

I grew up relatively poor. But I managed to get a original Xbox in the early 2000s in form of a Christmas present to my dad. I can remember playing hot pursuit two up until 2010 because I loved it so much. My friends would come over and say "forget the Wii I want to play hot pursuit" 8 years after it came out! I can remember going to kindergarten and my dad picking me up and taking me home, even though he had a hour for lunch he would sit down and eat and watch me play and play himself. He loved it and to this day loves it. There's something truly amazing about a game that can make you enjoy it years after it's released. My friends who never played it love it. I'm glad I got to experience it! I still have my dad's Xbox and alot of games and I still play on it even though I have a PS4 and Xbox one. My only regret is that I was young and dumb and would never put the games back in the cases and because of that they got scratched up bad. But the three most important still work Lego star wars, hot pursuit two and the original star wars battlefront

The ps2 version of HP2 remains my absolute favorite in the series, and I think aside from HP2010 and MW2012, for me no other entry in the series gets close that came afterwards. I never really took to the whole tuner culture that FnF brought about, so UG and MW05 never stood out to me. Peak NFS for me at least is driving fancy cars through equally fancy locales. This game has loads of that, and the cop vs racer aspect is the most blood-boiling it gets. Once you piss the cops off enough, they bring out the missiles on top of trying to drop explosive barrels on you. This game is utterly insane in that mode and it's brilliant. The game also looks amazing visually and still holds up decently to this day thanks to the good lighting and modeling work. Also many of the courses are incredibly well designed and the campaign mode lasts a hella long time and entices you to push through by giving you cars and courses as you do so. 100%ing this game is one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had honestly.
@g.williams20472 жыл бұрын
Same. I just want to select colors for my cars, if I want full customization I’ll play Forza Horizon 4. HP2 has some tedious parts, but that’s mostly due to having ridiculously long missions at the end (10 laps on palm city?). Definitely the best NFS game overall. Second best is the 2010 version, third is MW05 for the best system, and fourth is Rivals.

If you ever choose to remake this review (I remember when this channel was Kaxey and you've come a LONG WAY), I'd highly suggest playing Black Box's version via PCSX2 with the 60fps hack, and the Seattle version with the widescreen hack via windows 10, it's amazing because it really does show that with a higher framerate and resolution, black box's version STILL SHINES THROUGH.

I was always envious of the graphics on the Xbox version because I had the PS2 version, and when I finally played it on Xbox I was so disappointed in how horrible the cars handled. I loved playing the PS2 version on the hardest difficulty... such a rush dodging falling bombs and missiles. Found out if you crashed into the cops just right before they start moving that you could take them down instantly with no pursuit. Running hardest difficulty against a friend on National Forest with 8 laps and trying to get the BEAT THE COPS points reward before the start of the 8th lap was always our goal. EA Black Box made the best, most replay-able NFS games without a doubt. Although I found it strange how the Hot Pursuit series starts with Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit, then Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, and ending with Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit... kinda all over the place lol

Hearing that High Stakes music always takes me back. That was my first Need For Speed.
@SuperFlashDriver Жыл бұрын
Believe it or not, the first ever Need For Speed game I ever played along with my siblings was High Stakes (NFS 4 on the PS1) and man did that soundtrack kick ass. Rom Di Picaso became one of if not my favorite DJs of that era that I loved his music. It felt like EDM mixed in with some heavy drums and very tingeling bass. Thankfully with this game, they brought in soft rock, and even had two of my favorite artists, Hot Action Cop, and Rush, to compose music for the NFS HP2 soundtrack. Going Down On It, along with Paradigm Shifter, will always be my top favorite NFS audio tracks of all time. None of the NFS series games has ever matched the original 6 games of the original generation. In fact, Rom Di Picaso and the humble brothers, in a section that you had to find in the options menu, had four songs from the four artists that worked previously on NFS High Stakes, to bring their music over to NFS HP2. Sphere and Cykloid are my favorites in this game. As for playing the game, you HAVE to play the PS2 version, by far one of the best versions to play the game. The Gamecube, Xbox, and PC version look meh at best, and I'm glad my dad bought the PS2 version. Believe it or not he was using it for medical research on a project he was working at St. Claire's back in 2003 on some sort of video game mental and adverse effects for children and teens. A year later after he finished the project, he gave it to us, and when I played it for the first time, man it was freakin' awesome. 20 years later and this game I can still play on both the original PS2 consoles AND on the emulator. heck, PCSX2 is the only emulator I know of that can take physical CD/DVD copies and play them right into the emulator. That to me is freakin' awesome, same goes with the PS1 discs using a CD/DVD USB Drive into yoru laptop's USB ports. To this day, it's been twenty years since this game, and Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, have been released in both October and November of 2002.

There's a trade-off for pretty much everything that the PS2 version does better than the PC/XB/GC version. It had more tracks but fewer cars, better environments but ugly car models, better sense of speed but a less complex physics engine, you could take out the cops but the helicopter could take you out, etc. Given the popularity of the PS2 at the time I think Black Box simply did a better job at appealing to a casual audience.

My very first NFS game was Hot Pursuit 2 for the PS2, followed by Porsche Unleashed on PC. I have a huge soft spot for both games, but HP2 remains my favorite NFS game to date, especially the PS2 version. The tournaments, the cars, the tracks. I spent countless hours (honestly, years put into that game) on that game, and put several dozen hours unlocking the numerous cars in it. The soundtrack was amazing, as well (especially with Bush, Uncle Kracker, Rush, and Hot Action Cop) and helped shaped my music taste early on, along with ATV Offroad Fury 2. I've played this game on PC and Xbox, and it's just not the same to me. I mean, it has most of the same elements, but the feeling is all different. It especially shows in the downgraded graphics. Given everything, I still believe the PS2 version is the superior version, and I'm glad I came across this video. Incidentally ended up reliving my first moments playing it and how much I fell in love with the game. Edit: Oh yeah, also, rest in peace GameSpy. I miss the PC servers

yeah I had been playing NFS games since 1996 when this came out and had always been into cars, so this was the first game I was truly amped to start playing upon release. it was every bit as good as I hoped it was (though, yes, there are still some issues - it's a little easy for instance, and the thing that shoots ahead down the track to show you what's ahead, though it is a truly innovative feature, it makes the pursuits a little too easy because you can avoid the spike strips pretty easily). I bought the PC version a few months after the PS2 one and it was heartily disappointing (aside from having more vehicle options available to the cops). one disadvantage nobody seems to mention is that it had fewer tracks: the entire desert environment is exclusive to the PS2 version for some reason.

I also love the Added Tickford and HSV in the game, rare to see some Aussie muscle in video games

Pretty much my first videogame back in the day. Played the hell out of this one. Loved it even though it was the PC version. But now that I'm hearing this I think I'll have to try emulating the ps2 version some time soon.

I still have this game on my PC in ISO format running on a virtual drive that I was playing just now. I remember buying the original in 2002 when I was looking for a game for my new PC that I had just assembled: a very modern Pentium IV 1.7GHz Willamette 256MB RAM and a RIVA TNT2 64MB AGP. it was enough to run in 800 x 600 @ 20 to 30fps. And the cool thing about it is that I STILL have this old PC here with me working with small upgrades like a new video card (GeForce FX 5700LE 128MB) and two more 128MB memory sticks totaling 512MB ... I'm still looking for 512MB sticks to get 2GB but it does not exist for RAMBUS 800 models with fair price. Anyway, the game was one of the best I bought and I regret to this day that it sold and great conditions in the box and manual. thing that is no longer found today.

I was pretty surprised to find out that the PS2 had it's own version as a kid because I had played both the PC and GameCube versions but didn't own a PS2 until much later and as much as I now own the game I havent really been able to play it because both used copies of the game I've gotten have been too rough and end up crashing at different points

Hope someone could answer my question. I've been searching for answers in gamefaq and there's no concrete answer. Does anyone know what does the speedometer flash does when you reapply the throttle in the PS2 version sometimes? Is it some type of unexplained hidden boost/ perfect shift mechanic?

You hit the nail on the head with the helicopters being ridiculously overpowered in the PS2 version. Especially the missiles and the spike strips. But I still prefer the PS2 version
