I don.t think the granny was being shady. I believe she (the granny) was correcting little Bot's body posture. Notice when Bot says Joe Fritz's name, her posture changes. The Grandmother sees it, and out of respect for Troy, gives her a slight pinch. It appears the Grandmother thought it seemed disrespectful.

I agree with Grouchy Dude. It’s really difficult to know for certain whether or not they’re legit. If you meet with them again, hopefully at their home, and don’t offer them any money, but just your presence, you should be able to get a better feel whether or not they are scammers. She did say that she needed to go to the hospital and get back on her meds, maybe she had to stay in town to get them ? She did look really dazed and tired and you could see the bags under her eyes from the lack of sleep. Around 2008-2012(I'm Viet Kieu from the US) I must have been back to VN around 12 times until I got married. I love VN but what I hate the most is when Vnamese people look at me as I'm an ATM machine. This goes for the relatives and girls I've met there. With my experiences, I can smell them from far away. Bo is still a kid and an innocence one at that! Anyone can see that the grandmother is quite 'cunning'(per n Adams) and manipulative! She is clearly the one who schemes and pulls strings to have Bo says and does things to invoke the pittiness in you Troy(and in turn, your audience). It's sad that we all can see the potential (and cuteness) in Bo. Life sometimes pushes people to do despicable things. They often use their own flesh/blood to gain an advantage, no matter how small and insignificant that advantage is! Bo is better off without the grandmother! No one can tell how she will end up, but we can only hope the best for her! Too bad that she doesn't have someone who truly cares about her! The only person she has in her life is the grandmother who at best makes her work for a living at that age and at worst manipulates her into doing things that in turn make others have a bad impression upon her! The thing I can't get over with is that when I was working in refugee camps in the SouthEast Asia and the Middle East after college. The parents, mostly the mothers since most fathers were killed escaping the war, were so fiercely protective of their children! But if you were suspicious of how they went through so much money is such short of a period, and the gran saying all they have been eating were noodles, then you could've probe more into their situation further. But I guess if your donors/supporters specifically wanted to donate to Bot, then, well, you're merely the messenger. It's hard to judge how poor they actually are just from their clothes and appearance. I like the videos where you find random cats out grafting/scrounging to survive and help them out and make their day. Like when you bought the bicycle for the mother and daughter who only had one bike. Those charity cases showed more genuine appreciation and gratitude.

I'm so torn between the grandma and Bot. On one hand, most of her family is gone, either abandon her or have died. Her grandmother is in her 70s so there's not much she can do other than sell tickets to get by. Bot has no future so her grandmother is trying to get as much as she can from Troy and the people on here generosity. Grandma is trying to come off as genuinely desperate but it seems like it's not working for Troy or the people on here. Kids are honest and they can grow attachment to you because of how well you treat them. But I always have to take a double look at the adults around them. Hey Troy, I think you have a very strong desire to help other people and I've noticed that you seem to be aware that there are people out there that need more help than some of the people you have currently helped. Maybe instead of giving them the money directly you can find an alternative to giving them the money through the purchase of food or by asking them what they need and helping buy it for them. I know that at the end of the day the money was sent to you by another person and they tell you what they want to do with the money but I think there are better ways of helping someone. I think after reading all the negative comments, it is nice to see one that's not negative for a change. I don't think this family is scamming him, but excessively calling him is a bit worrisome. Thanks Troy for the update. I think you are right. Grandma is definitely trying to get more money from you. They don't look as destitute. The clothes look new ( maybe from the previous donation?). You can't blame them for trying to get more money though. They might not be as bad off as other people, but they are still poor. It still give a bad taste when they act like this though. There's definitely more people who are more needy than them.

Always remember that stress can make us appear indifferent or ungrateful. I may be wrong but I think they are genuine, and Bot is all too aware of gran stressing about scammers. You’re calm demeanour translates as the stability Bot sees as their solution Troy, if only you had more time just to visit for a catch up without feeling compelled to help. Its tough because if you were in that situation raising a grandchild by SELLING LOTTO TICKETS FOR MINIMAL WAGE FOR YEARS, and the someone comes and helps you like you did then its obvious that the grandmother thinks that she should get as much out of you as she can. She may be thinking about her self but she sure is thinking about her grandchild so I think its hard to be be too tough on her. Bot is just a child and probably has little understanding of the situation compared to an adult, she will just be doing as she is told by her grandmother. In my opinion Its hard to be too tough on even the grandmother as she just sees this as the only other way to get something for her self and her grandchild. Everyone has to remember... these people are selling lotto tickets for £0.10 profit per ticket to survive... how can anyone accuse them of being scammers? Do they maybe bend the truth a little to get a little extra help? Perhaps. Do they need help? YES. This is a 12(?) year old girl and her grandmother selling lotto tickets on the streets for fucks sake people.
