There will be no point working for a salary anymore as a permanent staff member and rather become a contractor. Contractor has a lot more flexibility when it comes to tax. Anyone in the 39% and above tax bracket will be paying over 55% tax. It just won't be worth it anymore. They already worked out if vat went to 22% and raised income tax by 32% it will only meet half the requirements and that's with zero corruption.

It so interesting to read some comments, somehow believing this NHI is going to help the poor people. Why is the public health structure not doing so, simple as long as anything is run and managed by this government is bound to fail, lack of accountability. We are still waiting for justice for Life Esidimeni victims, how many years later. Why create new instead of modifying what is existing.

The Dr., however, knows what he's talking about. I feel many jornalist/intervier seem to be clueless on the topic they are interviewing. @johnmajor9564 Жыл бұрын
1. He clearly states that there is no money to execute the act. It means nothing. 2. He also states that the government should first fix the existing problems of the state owned hospitals. He also suggests concrete measures to improve the existing medical schemes: e.g. by outlawing co payments. 3. The points you mention like corruption is the cancer which rots SA away: You are creating a healthcare like Eskom: And how is Eskom going? He states clearly that in future politicians will decide about your healthcare and not yourself.
@MelaneMokone Жыл бұрын
Your point number 1, The money is there problem there is wasteful expenditure going to the non_tax payers. 2, Government hospitals it only depends on which Province they are cause its a problem of each MEC to make funds for since they always put in a budget for that. Medical Schemes are not controlled by Government, its just that everything they do must be Governed by the Constitution. 3, Like ive already mentioned its not like those things are not there, hence Corruption and others are also there in the Private Sector so why as a Health Care Chief just go there and and talk about something we already know. 3, @@johnmajor9564

I don't know if I am amazed or shocked at the Dr.'s willingness to radically do away with the Medical Aid Bill. It is a system that works very well for those that can afford it to be replaced with something that has not yet been tested. He speaks of monitoring from companies such as Discovery but the abolishing of Medical bill will mean there's no Discovery in South Africa which could result in brain drain. He made a lot of good points though
@godfreyberry1599 Жыл бұрын
Medical aid ADMINISTRATION aka Discovery, Medscheme, Fedhealth et al is the greatest drain on medical services in SA bar none. Ever seen their expansive Head Offices?. Everything of the best while Joe Citizen battles to cope with obscene private medical aid costs. Public healthcare is bordering on dysfunctional. Root out the mismanagement and corruption on both sides of the scale to sort the entire debacle out.

@TheoVosloo7 ай бұрын
The private hospitals, private medical aid and private healthcare is worth billions provided SOLELY by the private sector. The government is solely responsible for the state health services with taxpayer money and is a total failure and 3rd world quality. The NHI will not be able to purchase healthcare from the private sector which is a more expensive service as it cannot with the money available at present spend the available money effectively on public sector healthcare. Accessibility in rural areas will not improve whether it is NHI or private medical aid due to geographical realities. Accessibility and availability of private healthcare resources in urban areas are based on the real need and economics of private healthcare. In other words the capacity of resources will not be able to cater for state demand. This is socialistic and communistic interference in the private sector and an ideology that will cause the deterioration and destruction of healthcare in South Africa.
