Tonight, it was all about Nazem Kadri. After receiving death threats from Blues fans and getting the police involved, Kadri did not waver. He did not respond to the hate that was piled onto him in social media. He didn’t retaliate. He didn’t take stupid penalties. Unlike Perron and Buchnevich, he didn’t let his emotions get the best of him. He put the team before himself and let his game do the talking. Last year, Kadri was distraught when he could not help the Avs against the Golden Knights. He is now making up for it by coming through when the Avs need him. Kadri is the first Avs player to score a playoff hat trick on the road since the team moved to Colorado. The last time this happened was back in 1987 when the Avalanche was formerly known as the Quebec Nordiques. Another great adjustment by Bednar. He re-energized the bottom six by recalling Newhook and benching Burakovsky. Newhook was hungry to make something happen. Luckily, his effort was rewarded with an assist to Erik Johnson’s goal. Jack Johnson was excellent defensively and finished with a +2 for the night. Despite taking a penalty, Helm’s speed and defensive prowess made it hard for the Blues to set up anything offensively. Bednar was also not afraid to mix up the top 6 by starting Landeskog, Lehkonen and Mackinnon. Maybe he should stick with this line because Kadri plays his best when he is paired with Rantanen and Nichushkin. This was something we saw earlier this season when Mackinnon was out of the lineup with injuries. As I said in my last post, Rantanen was going to get a goal sooner than later. Even though it was an empty netter, this may help him get going for a potential clincher on Wednesday. Game 5 can be seen as a trap game. The Avs cannot relax whatsoever. They need to go back home and end this series. Put the pedal to the medal. #GoAvsGo Edit: Added context on Kadri's hat trick that it was the first done on the road since 87.

Kadri never attempts to turn his skates, and carries them both into Binnington, supposedly by accident. Kadri does something like this every single playoffs, but Avs fans are somehow in denial that he did it, and proud of him for doing it at the same time.

That's the problem with the Avs, and the reason why they won't make it to the finals for a 4th year in a row. Their stars, and the rest of the team stop playing good team hockey the further they get into the playoffs. The quality of their passing, and good team play deteriorates. Edmonton, and Tampa on the other hand are mesmerizing to watch with how they are firing on all cylinders with moving the puck around. I think after the Avs are eliminated in the next round, they will be looking for a new head coach. The talent is there, but something about Bednar. I don't believe he's a natural born leader of men. He's unable to keep the team focused on good team hockey the further they get into the playoffs, or the more the pressure mounts.

The most telling part of this Kadri saga is that not one Blues player had a problem with him and Rosen running into Binnington in game 3. Then the Blues get a day off, listen to their pissed off coach and fans, and come back to get revenge. Its like everyone knew it was just an unfortunate hockey play but then they had time to let emotion get the best of them.

Avs fan, but I'm a hockey player first. I think almost the same, maybe sneaky intent, but if so, only he knows it, because even in slow-mo it appears there was effort to stop as he played the puck. His dominant foot that was underneath him was turned for stopping and creating snow. Beyond that any intent would have been after the loss of balance by Rosen that caused them all to continue forward. I'm not a Kadri fan as so many seem to be suddenly, but I do give him props for not being a total turd this season. Even his mouth appeared to stop flapping as much during the latter part of the season. Maybe he's actually growing as some suggest... maybe he's just gunning for that big contract; contract year and all. Regardless I agree, I think his response was f-ing pro. After all the hate, it was almost a form of justice... which is so weird to use that word in his favor.

I've watched a lot of hockey and that Perron is some greasy player, always acting to try and draw penalties, don't get me wrong he is highly skilled at it. But greasy as they come. Must have graduated on the Principals list from the Claude Lemieux school of how to be a gutless puke

Congratulations Avalanche my prediction Is dead now I had Blues In 6 they tried to push back but couldn't. At least you guys answered that Husso definitely won't be out starter next season the team has to play so defensive when he's in net and Isn't agressive offensively. If I remember right, Husso was great in the regular season and also had a 37-save shutout in the 1st game of the 1st round. Then he lost two games, so it was ok to put Binnington in and win the series. Anyway, if the goalie stops 37 pucks and wins, it is a great performance by him, not only thanks to the defense. Starter or not next season, I'm happy that Husso was given the chance this year. He deserves another chance somewhere, so you guys may quite well trade him to Carolina, because they take all Finnish players whom no other team wants.
