He consistently puts up 850s even in their wins. Sure he has a good game here and there but his performance is pretty overshadowed by how much his team scores. Just look at the game vs Utah, Vancouver and Chicago, which is about the time where the habs started to turn it around. Sure maybe all the goals weren’t his fault but not the numbers you’d like to be getting out of your starter

Evans scored the game winner. 35 had a bounce back in the net tonight. The Bolts outshot the Habs 35-22 and he stood tall giving the team the chance to complete the comeback. A win against a club in the division.

Look at Laine's goals, there are definitely some lucky bounces from defenders and sticks, even his first perfectly precise goal was commented by him, that he closed his eyes and threw it on the net. The 3rd and especially 4th line contributions have been unexpected for most of us and are making a difference. Monty kept them in it, finally, with some agile work and their confidence in their ability to come back from any 2 goal or less deficit, even by the last two lines, is making it possible to consider a playoff spot.

Good goaltending wins games and last night the Canadiens got great goaltending! Limiting the Lightning to only two goals, a shot Kucherov actually fanned on and a seeing eye deflection by Geuntzel, reflects how the Canadiens have really clamped down on goals against! Montembeault played great! Slafkovsky is finally becoming the player a #1 draft pick should be and Laine has regained the magic he had in Winnipeg! 👍👍 The Canadiens are a fun team to watch! my opinion 🦂

I like how they slip a different player into the slot, where the leading forwards pull their defence back and the trailer coming from wherever slips through unnoticed. Also, Les Habs took advantage of TB's system of outmanning the zone. Again slipping someone unnoticed into paydirt. No doubt coaches will be trying to figure out how to stop their system.

its a common scenario, look at the penguins, your roster get older, you have less picks over time because of good placement, etc. Only boston bruins seems to defy this rule for some reason, their management is on point

I don't think it needs to be studied that hard. People are inspired by new and fresh things. That includes hockey players. The league is too competitive now to not put a significant strain on any potential modern dynasty. The team's core got significantly older, and they ran out of youth, which had to be traded in order to sustain the run. ...and it was a good run. All good things must come to an end. And it's not like the team has disgracefully hit the basement or anything. They're still a tough team.
