Evander Kane.... I can feel a tiny bit for his gambling problem. But his life style... That is the exact same reason why NFL and NBA player go bancrupt. A constant need to spend money on flashy cars and so forth. Show the world how much money they earn. He's got noone else to blame but himself.

Honestly the best thing to do is just live below your means for the first 5-6 years of your career minimum. Hell get a roomate or live with your parents in the off season. Stack up make smart investments try to secure endorsements and live off your endorsement money and pocket the salary and save and invest small portions of that. That's what Marshawn Lynch did and he's set for life as well as 2 generations under him.

The reason NHL players are more responsible with their money is quite easy to think logically. Its because for the most part white people play hockey, a sport primarily reserved for rich people. Rich people on average or more educated. Rather than the large majority of hoodlums who play football and basketball. If you grew up without money, its going to be alot harder to manage it once yourself and people in your inner circle are just used to making ends meet and surviving and then all of sudden you got 10 million to throw around. And let me add for the majority most of these NBA and NFL players who go bankrupt have multiple bastard children and are paying alimony and child support up the ass. All this after buying there family and friends a bunch of crap, diamond chainz , “pimped out rides” and all of that kinda shit.

I wouldn't say, rich people necessarily. I imagine most NHL players were upper middle class, but not necessarily rich. Your main point stands though.

the most confusing contracts that teams have signed lately are for sure Jeff Skinner and Sergei Bobrovsky for Skinner , could have gone with 4 yrs , 6,5M per year and for Bobrovsky , well he is 33,34 yrs old now , why not just go for 1 yr ,8M and see how he does , so if they dont trade him , they could be stuck with a goalie paid 10M per year for the next 6yrs who is not playing as well as he was in Columbus ,ROUGH!!!
