You guys should stop the clock when someone requests an unstick. With 30 seconds left, someone with a completely dead bot can request an unstick. And that would give them enough time to keep from getting counted out.
@stonefish986 ай бұрын
Someone survived 48 seconds with a fully dead bot by doing that in the Teams event. It was *extensively* discussed in Discord. I believe they're working on... something.
@eclairdawnlight84706 ай бұрын
It's part of the game strategy... An unfortunate part... But builders know they only need 3 minutes of battery. Pause the timer every single fight for unsticks & now you NEED bigger batteries or you have to conserve them more

they can't even call it "unstuck" .. there's no such thing as unstick ... it means that when stick falls off a tree, then they make it into no stick? they're mental to call it unstick, it has always been unstuck. how you expect them to have a rule to pause the timer. also the fact that i have never seen anyone abuse it, is sign that competitors aren't any smarter either. i was thinking about it all the time when i first saw NHRL, i was like why not just call un"tree"stick to start making sticks into no sticks and just waste opponent's time. but instead they hit coward tapout button and give opponent an extra point .. so silly donuts.

Just an FYI for whoever does the timestamps... First of all, thank you! You guys do, an incredible job on every aspect of NHRL. It's a really fun watch. I especially like how the tournament is created with the intention to give the competitors the best possible experience. I'm sure it's tempting to change the competition to make it more marketable or to make it a more dramatic show for the viewers. It's a product that could easily gain a much larger audience and when it comes down to it, really deserves to be seen by more people, so I appreciate that the rules and logistics of the tournament are always put in place with the best interests of the competitors as the top priority. I hope that never changes, even when you gain the long overdue national audience. Second... For the fight at 2:21:00, you by mistake swapped the 1 and the 2 so it takes the viewer back to the fight at 2:12:00 instead of the fight it's supposed to go to.

house bots need to have a small wedge flipper in front or some kind of an arm on top, like a rake or something so they can grab the bot and pull it off the wall.
@cumunist21204 ай бұрын
Give it a pneumatic flipper that’ll do it
@nibs72523 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, that would make them too fragile. See the old Robot Wars house bots for examples of how even ultra-tanky bots with external moving parts can get completely eviscerated by a competitor. For house bots to survive 100% of the time, they have to basically be ultraheavy, featureless steel bricks.

The general consensus is that multi bot should be reserved for actual split weight bots- the judging criteria may consider them the same as main bots with a mini, but it's useful as a viewer to differentiate between them.

4:44:31 i invented lego bots in 90s when i was only like 5-6 years old ... it makes me so sad and frustrated that they are like "OH WOW I HAD NO IDEA THIS IS POSSIBLE" .. why not? altho i took the RC components out of RC toy cars and used normal AA batteries as power supply. i always wanted to start lego battle bots, but never had oppertunity nor money to do so. as a kid i also built catapult out of legos. it was strong enough to swing a rock across the street into somebody's window. it wasn't my intention, but people (specially kids) always tend to aim things where you're not suppose to. honestly i wasn't even thinking it might break the window, i just wanted to see how far it launches stuff .. it went bit too far. it was made entirely out of legos, apart from the rubberband that i used to launch it with. entire mechanism was legos and i built it after i saw a real catapult in a movie. wish i had a camera back then ... i would have recorded all that stuff. and my bots didn't break/die after couple hits. mostly i used lego technic parts and cross-reinforced stuff. when something broke, i reinforced it even more. actually wish i still had my legos, i'd still be building stuff. i also made some battle bot and robot wars replicas in "brick rigs", it's basically a lego game where you can freely build. they're fully functional bots with weapons. razer came out really nice, it's fully functional. anyone who has brick rigs, look up my builds on steam workshop :)
@paydaygh93885 ай бұрын
The difference is these bots aren’t allowed to use RC components, only licensed LEGO components. I’ve seen these in person, they ARE reinforced in several directions to prevent them falling apart. At my local competition the bots are so well built that the pieces themselves are breaking instead of their attachment points.

Omg what is UP with the cuts this stream? You guys stopped watching a 5 year old run great, to cut to a fight a minute in with 2 weapons already down and nothing happened?? Who made that choice, cut away from Drew davis' first fight as it starts and hesr nothing about it for atleast an hour if at all. So genuinely confused this is usually paced so well, earlier qualifiers even. 2 hours in and ive verbalized 'wtf' out loud over cutting away to some fight where the only hit already happened.

When Red Flag was fighting the first time at around the 50 minute mark, the commentators said that one of the robots were british courtesy of Hong Kong Honk Kong was handed back to Chine in 1999 when the Honk kong agreement expired, an agreement which dated back to WW2. England has not been connected to Hong Kong since 1999 in any way. Hong Kong Became another district of China again at that time.
@daveg82662 ай бұрын
They weren't saying that he's British. They said he's part of the British contingent as in he traveled to NHRL from Britain, with the British competitors. He's from Hong Kong but came to the competition from Britain.

For the same reason you handle unloaded firearms safely when unloaded. 1. It becomes a habit 2. If you make a mistake, it can cost you a limb or worse so better have multiple layers of safety. "Look it's not loaded" are famous last words for a reason.
