I've met Robby when I was training. He rolled up in a limo and got out. I've met a lot of the big names and use to hang out with Ken Kuntz A.K.A The Ripper. I have never idolized any of those guys but it always is a pleasure to talk with them. I started training in 74’. My first show was 1981 and I did about 6 shows a year. I have three titles and many high placings in NPC shows. I was clean and competing against guys who were not. I’m glad Robby is still around. Most of my friends have died from heart failure. It's why I stayed clean. Unfortunately cancer is getting me. Life is funny that way….

Totally agree. Robbie definitely should have won one. His physique was MUCH MORE complete than Arnold, Draper and Zane. Weider was a virulent r@cist who demeaned black competitors during that era. He made sure that black competitors were tested to second tier status, while white competitors like Arnold made the front covers of muscle and fitness on a regular basis.
@ileyoruba68848 ай бұрын
Politics
@C.STRIKER-yo7zg8 ай бұрын
Robbie Robinson competed in the wrong era. A black competitor in the 70s while Arnold, Weiders Whyte hope to be the flagship banner of his organization, was NEVER going to win. Weider is on record saying as much. He wanted a charismatic European to be the face of Weider incorp. And to bring in revenue for his organization. This in spite of the fact that Robinson was very popular with fans irrespective of R@ce. Weider was a staunch r@cist and businessman. Fast forward going into the mid 90s he told the legendary Kevin Levrone the same thing . Weider told Levrone to his face that He felt Levrone would make a fine Mr. Olympia and that he could keep rotating the Sandow between Kevin, Shawn and Flex Wheeler but…..he needed Dorian Yates to appeal to the European market. In short he was telling Kevin and every other black competitor that as long as Yates was around they could essentially forget about winning the big one. R@ce and business was Weiders M.O. Lee Haney was an 8 time Mr. Olympia straight through his reign but was featured on the cover of muscle and fitness rarely. Weider claimed his covers didn’t sell but That was a lie because Haney was on The covers of other respected Magazines such as Iron Man and they sold very well. And this was the 80s and 90s. That Weider was still pumping that BS narrative. Robbie Robinson in the SEVENTIES definitely was not going to win an Olympia in spite of the fact that he had a superior all around better physique than Arnold and yes Zane and Franco. So before anyone goes spouting this narrative that Robinson is just bitter, he’s lying etc…..you need to do proper research before opening your mouths and tossing out denial BS.

5:10 Notice the full-range of motion that both Robby and Arnold had when doing cable and T-bar rows. This is the way we all did them in the 70s and 80s. This resulted in tremendous lower lat development rarely seen in bodybuilding today. Today's bolt-upright seated cable rows and 45-degree T-bar rows, both with shorted range of motion, has resulted in lats that are bunched up under the arms instead of that sweeping classic look all the way to the waist!
