Great video! Right now I have the Turin SD-40, And I’m thinking about going the hand grinder route. Will the M47 produce better espresso for me in your opinion?

I would say it would be slightly better and easier to dial in

@@CabeensCoffeeCorner Thank you for answering! Do you think I should try to sell and get the M47 for espresso? Or this is too much hassle?

I think that is where the Niche wins out in the workflow improvement, I use a Comandante c40 at the moment and have backed the Kopi Deva rather than keep trying to get a Niche, and you are so correct when you're in the mood hand grinding is so therapeutic but when you just want a decent cup in a hurry it is a pain in the butt, however with an electric grinder you can be doing other things while it's working, also the cost difference is justified, not just the pure cost of components but the extra development and testing needed to provide a reliable machine that will last for long enough to justify that cost, otherwise you end up with something like a Baratza that you have to keep losing for days/weeks to get it repaired, this does not happen with Niche, Webber, or Option O grinders.

For real I’ve only had 1 problem 8 months of daily use. The top bolt became loose but I was used it for an event where I was pulling shots like crazy so I’ll blame myself!

One thing not mentioned is the Niche has a significantly larger burr set, 63mm Mazzer vs 47mm Italmill. $170 vs $40. Taste may not be much different, but larger burr set has longer life. Also arguably Mazzer has better reputation than Italmill.

I’d be surprised if someone wore out either of the burrs though

What setting on the Kinu do you recommend for espresso? And for pour over if you have an opinion on that as well.

I want to say I was at 3.7 for espresso but I cant quite remember. Sold it awhile back

I have the Kinu phoenix and typically for a light-medium roast for espresso, I would go with 1.6 to 1.9. For pourovers, I would go for 3.0 to 4.5 based on the recipe. If you know the grind size for the recipe, then a 0.1 turn is about 25 microns.

Bought kinu m47 classic. When I set the burrs to 0, the grinder continues to rotate easily, is it normal that they are not in contact with each other when the adjusting wheel is fully turned. On all my previous models, the millstones were in contact with each other and there was no rotation. Also in one of the reviews of kinu m47 classic, when the adjusting wheel was turned to 0, there was no rotation. Do you also?
@CabeensCoffeeCorner3 жыл бұрын
Mine was at setting 9 I think for it to zero out with no rotation. It’s a common thing that has a good reason that I don’t remember

The difference in clean up?

@@CabeensCoffeeCorner between both grinders, which is easier to clean? I'd expect the Kinu is.
