Things for low level MMs are slightly better now because at least you can instantly pick any MM to play as well as make custom decks and instantly have 20 equipment points and all slots available. If you are Rank 5 you should instantly work on making your own custom presets that work with your gameplay and the MM you choose to play. Sadly since you are low level you will not have access to all of the cards and passives in the game, the highest unlock for every MM is at Rank 25 (every 6 levels, 7, 13, 19 and 25), these unlocked cards can be used by any MM (unlike their special Area 2 and 3 cards). You'll have to take some (or more) losses till you get there and learn how to play efficiently. Read the passives of the MM carefully and try to customize your deck to fit their strengths, however you will have to learn as you play and see what works and what doesn't. I recommend spending the RP you gain from matches on equipment chests before cosmetics, the equipment grind is not too bad. I guess that's all I can tell you, you'll learn from experience but do expect to have it rough until you get the better stuff unlocked (for Annette you really want her Rank 19 and 25 unlocks, for Daniel same as Annette, for Alex either Annette or her own level 19 unlock as well as Nicholai stuff, for Spencer you may wanna have a variety of stuff unlocked across all MMs depending on the playstyle you choose, for Nicholai you can mostly unlock only his own stuff to get decent cards, Rank 13 Spencer card, the High Caliber Rifle, would be great too though). Something to note is the new cards you unlock at every 6 levels can also be used on your presets so you are limited on presets too sadly. It may be recommended to play Survivor as well to learn how they work and what plays from MM make it difficult for them too, you'll learn the map from their perspective as well. Sorry for the wall, I was not sure how helpful I'd be so I just listed general things to keep in mind.

Dead game now so idk if you still play, but here are some tips. As spencer, it might be situational and f you want to use lock traps bc you get points for it. Alex is poison based, so focus that into your items like the gun, traps and clone card (do not do trap alex, thats for heathens) Finally, my boy daniel works best with strong zombies that cant be knocked back. Focus on biting and taking off time, maybe try to wear out the survivors supplies. Those are the MMs i play, best of luck
