This is the vulnerability that Nick has tried to avoid in the past. Because he never really put in his full effort, he never really felt this level of devastation after a defeat. Though this interview is heartbreaking, I'm delighted to know that he is now giving his all at all grand slams. I really hope he gets one eventually.

But you're capable of doing it! You just need another chance, maybe more than one! It's the law of probabilities, the more and harder you try the better are the chances. You know that. It's amazing to see how a different entourage and something that must have clicked internally has changed him. Now he still is brutally honest, but in a refreshing, respectful way; and will always be an outlier, even if only for his incredible easiness and nonchalance playing one of the best tennis game out there on the ATP tour; but it's definitely a much more likeable and relatable dude. Enigma? Couldn't be more opposite. He's possibly the most predictable tennis player on the circuit right now in regards reactions, press conferences, etc. A lack of temperament or self-control is not just throwing a strop in anger - it's going from high to low emotions in a split second and not being able to deal with it. There is no stability and it's mostly common in the behaviour of toddlers and children where the concept of self control is alien. I do agree with your reference to reality tv though - he's definitely a Big Brother, Jersey Shore, Only way is Essex type alright.

@@deanknoote114 It's not about positivity and negativity(although you don't seem to realise you're defending the most negative player on the tour), it's about what is and what isn't. To attempt to raise Nick Kyrgios up into something mysterious or complex is ridiculous considering he's so predictable. His fans keep on attempting to do this for some reason. Contrast his attitude after his loss in the video above with Nadal's in his press conference after his own loss a couple of days ago. Then you might see the irony of your 'positivity' remark.

This is a new Nick Kyrgios that gives his all and I love to see it. With that said I really don’t like hearing him say he only cares about the grand slams. The grand slams are of course important but in order for him to get that ranking high, he’s gonna to play and win the tour events. Hopefully this was him saying this out of frustration and he’ll commit to playing more tennis throughout the season.

His emotional intelligence is improving and I feel like hugging him right now. He finally developed true affinity to the sport. I think this is the reason I started liking Nick in the past year. Nick if you read this: being a tennis pro and a successful player means you must learn to cope with losing high stakes matches. Nadal & Medvedev lost a few days ago and they will be at the top for the next tournaments. Play some FIFA, just go surfing or swimming and you will forget like they do. Next tournaments are important for your ranking and your seed so you don't meet a n1 in round 3 or 4 in AO. Please keep playing you're the heir of Federer & Tsonga and the best gem of the tennis world.

@@vinayakpatwardhan4408 I believe there's a balance to strike. Here he was definitely tired mentally: he won Washington, played lots of matches in Montreal, Cincinatti, and the doubles in US Opens He played WAY too much in the US Open build up. He wants to be nice with Kokkinakis and not letting him down but... he should play less to come fresh mentally on last rounds. At Wimbledon he seemed fresher. Hard court = more rallyes = you need more mental freshness for the pressure points and be consistent on your serve. He lost to Kachanov because of that... but one must also admit Nick struggles against big servers like Hurkaz/Kachanov... so even more freshness is required to face them.

He's just like any other human being and in fact, much more transparent with his real emotions and not hiding behind a "gotta be politically correct so better not say this" He's not fake. He says as it is. The truth. And he's a great tennis player. Sure, hasn't won a grand slam yet but...how many players will be remembered as Nick will? There's no one like him on tour, never was, and not so likely to be. Top 20 player soon and he might do well in AUS Open. It's always a joy to watch him play, whether he breaks rackets or not. It's just him, being human. With all the virtues and flaws we all as humans have. But he's real and transparent, while others fake who they actually are. This is the sensitivity behind everyone who acts out. Impulsiveness (most recently, running across the net vs medvedev to lose that point he won) is the manifestation of having emotions so strong they override conscious, measured control. The more impulsive, the more intense of emotion you feel causing that impulsiveness. You can see how hard it is for him to lose when he gives his all and its more empathetic here because its sadness and grief instead of anger. People like Nick (and myself) develop coping mechanisms to curb our overly intense emotions and trend towards avoiding situations that cause them, even (and especially) when those situations are those can bring us the greatest growth. Its so hard seeing him or anyone this uncomfortable and upset. Lots of people think that emotional disregulation disorders (or emotional neurodivergence i think is more accurate) is being childish or undisciplined, which it is, but they dont know how it feels to have things that are minor or moderate hardships for most feels like we just watched somebody die. You can see how much Nick's emotions are screaming at him to avoid the interview by his body language, how he can barely look up. I always feel for him cause i see so much of me in him. “Every other tournament during the year is a waste of time” that’s why I think he will never win a grand slam. There’s still a big gap between his and top players’ mentality. He’s improving mentally sure but still shows his arrogance. He works harder than ever before but he’s too expecting. Does he really think that he can just win a grand slam after recently getting back to playing tournaments? After skipping months or years before his main comeback at the AO? According to him other tournaments are a waste of time, maybe he should’ve kept playing more tournaments?… He doesn’t have goat qualities to win a grand slam out of thin air. Goats like Nadal, Federer, and Djokovic has done it before. You know why? Because they worked hard, played as many tournaments as possible prior. The goats maintained their level and consistency from experience by playing countless tournaments 💁🏼‍♂️ Most importantly, their mental fortitude is far more superior than the rest. His main reason of playing tennis and winning a slam is to please others, why not play for yourself? Maybe it could change something? I keep telling people time and time again, he will never make it. He’s so close yet so far and it’s going to stay that way. Maybe he’ll prove me wrong 🤷🏼‍♂️ but I’ll stick with these thoughts and go back to this comment when he retires to reassess.

He'll never win one. This was his best shot. He blew it.

Go easy on yourself, bro! You didn't let anyone down - that's the sport. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Keep your head up.

Kyrgios needs to either finish puberty or get some hormone blockers. His childish antics are fine for a 14-year-old who wets the bed but he is 27 years old! Time to retire and go play pick-up basketball games with homies and pretend he is LeBron. He has probably gone through 100's of game controllers and big screen tv's, smashing them when he can't dribble through his legs.
