How impressive is Alabama's continued dominance of college football?

Coach is doing actually what he said he would do. There are no debates at Alabama, the best player wins the job. The second best, back's up the best player and, so forth and so on.

Saban has proved himself to be the GOAT. Took an Alabama program that was living off nostalgia and took it to the greatest college football dynasty of all time. Just ask Shannon Sharpe hahahahaha.

Who cares if Jalen is happy because Saban did not talk to him? Saban is supposed to have the best situation he can have for his team. Feelings are not part of that. If having a experienced back up stay is the end result, the Saban did the right thing.

No team and I mean no team has put together this kind of National Title run, not Miami nor FSU or ND or Michigan or USC. 5 titles in 9 yr run from 09 to 17 actual season yrs. Miami never won 5 no one has not in that time frame and only a few ever won 5 or more titles in their history, no one is close to this. And this is in a current age when parity is much better than decades ago.

Would you be shocked to admit that Jalen isn't pro QB material? No NFL team is going to draft him as a QB .. maybe he did do him a favor by helping him to realize that as an athlete he probably can be drafted in to the NFL but ... he (Jalen) might want to start thinking about developing that skill set in the new position so he can be...

MM - Great point! I used to be familiar with all of these "coaching trees" ( Nick Saban did coach at Toledo)since people used to talk about how men had progressed "upward" from coaching at Miami of Ohio and Kent State,and some others. I always believed it was just because there are so many colleges in Ohio.

Y'all Bama fans need to lighten up what I said was true and don't tell me that I don't know about passion for collegiate sports I'm from Kentucky born and raised a fan of Kentucky basketball so yes I know all about passion. Kentucky basketball fans bleed blue it's almost like a religion a way of life. Kentucky basketball and Alabama football r two sides of the same coin. Kentucky basketball fans r also spoiled rotten entitled arrogant I get it so don't tell me I don't understand or that I don't know squat like I said I lived in Alabama for 10 years got to observe it firsthand the Alabama/Auburn rivalry is unbelievable one of the greatest rivalries I've ever seen ever but what I said was true and I guess sometimes the truth can hurt obviously by some of the comments my comment has received . We don't have any pro teams in Kentucky either the whole state revolves around Kentucky basketball. I'm glad I got turned on to college football never followed it much prior to moving to Alabama. U had to follow college football living in Alabama or u might as well have been from another planet since it's such a way of life down there but I totally got it being from Kentucky. Ur ball is oblong r ball is round. That's why Kentucky sucks at football u hand a young child from Kentucky a football and the first thing they try to do is dribble it. Ever tried dribbling a football? Doesn't work very well. Roll Tide War Eagle and GO CATS!!!

Why cant the good teams beat Bama? They have the opportunity every year in the playoffs. We dont lose to teams like Iowa or Syracuse. Bama is still the best team in the best conference. Btw, the SEC is big boy football. Not easy to play SEC teams every week...
@blakeharris58

Assuming the SEC is the best when it absolutely is not, is why people argue with this statement. Alabama has the weakest non-conference schedule every year. A cupcake game leading into Auburn so they can stay healthy. Smart, but slick.

Zero sense at all in that statement, Saban got most of his championships at Alabama during the height of the SEC's dominance. There was a point where their western division literally had #1, 2, and 3 ranked in the BCS. Guess who won the natty that year?

Saban runs the best strength and conditioning program in college football. Great recruiter. Ok coach. If you can stop the run and keep your safety deep, they can't score. Tiring out that defense is a different story.

Blake Harris I mean, if you want to say OK play caller, then I'll agree with you. But what 90% of America, including sports analysts, seem to forget is that the "strength and conditioning program" and "great recruiter" is all part of the Head Coach's job. All of it. A Head Coach is not just someone who calls plays on the field, you have to average all of that in. And when you do, Nick Saban is on top by a mile.

If I was the absolute dictator of the US, I'd ban college football from TV and limit the distance teams can travel to 200 miles. (Some teams out west might have to shut down their football teams, but that's the price to be paid for returning it to *college* athletics.)

RonJohn63 -- TV contracts, travel etc... Benefit ALL Div. 1 Athletics and academics! That flow of income allows for (in the areas of academics and athletics) more scholarships, better facilities, better staff, and sustained growth! Without it, many of these campuses would have to charge outrageous tuitions and fees, which would cause the students to suffer! So...long-story-short...i would have to overthrow your regime on behalf of the America's youth!

Bacnow, they already charge outrageous tuitions and fees. Only the biggest football programs make a profit. Your average Div 1 school has to pump money into athletics.
