@kiroolioneaver85327 ай бұрын
(Totally speculating here) yes some of was because he was an Asian in a sport where many did not exist but (again speculating) for Kobe it might've just been that he was one of the few teammates he had who could hold an accomplishment over him (i.e. being a graduate of Harvard College). It's kind of like a "you don't have to be here, you could get a job on Wall Street or Silicon Valley" but you're also in the NBA whereas for a lot of guys if they didn't have basketball, they'd be nowhere (seems to be the same critique from that anonymous source that Stephen A quoted about Jaylen Brown). You can then hide that (inadequacy?) by pushing those guys and saying they're not desperate enough, they don't want it enough, they're not competitive enough because they have a fallback/plan B. They don't "need" this like you do and so their not willing to put in the work and so you try to get them to quit under the guise of "toughening them up." We all have our insecurities and it's ridiculous to think even the greatest didn't have theirs.

Sounds like Kobe was toxic in the locker-room. Consistent with his beefing with Shaq. Call it whatever you like, tough love but he appeared to be mad at the whole world when Shaq finally left and he felt he needed to make sure to let people know its his team and he calling the shots. He wanted everyone to be afraid of him, even his teammates. Literally, started shooting his team out of the games. Wouldn't pass the ball in triple team. Pau Gasol and Odom saved his career. Finally chilled out when he got old.

The “Kobe not speaking to Lin” for the rest of the season narrative pretty much matches accurately to what Lin said on All the Smoke. They both got into it with each other so much that Kobe reached his boiling point, but at least Lin stood up for himself. Glad they both buried the hatchet during Kobe’s final season. RIP Kobe 🙏🙌

@@donaldcarey4606 Kobe was an amazing hooper and seemed like an amazing parent. He was also a real asshole to a lot of his teammates, according to those teammates. Maybe that was a tactic he used to motivate, or maybe it was just his work persona. Regardless, multiple teammates (smush parker, jeremy lin, etc...) shared stories about Kobe telling them they weren't good enough to talk to him, or Kobe just giving them the silent treatment for months on end. None of that takes away from Kobe's basketball or family legacy - but if anyone in my work place did that to me, I would consider them an asshole.

It means that the widow Bryant didn't care to give the parents a minute or two. Right or wrong. She felt like she paid her dues when she stayed with Kobe after that Colorado disaster. She earned that inheritance. Kobe appreciated that too. Vanessa could have taken half his money then, but she stayed for the full value. That's loyalty in a real way...

One can say he's one of the greatest basketball players but he's never a good team player & his clutch FG% is below avg.
