I was just about completely sold on this drone until you said - no stickers! I mean wtf? No stickers? The funny thing is I am kind of half serious! What a cool little quad though. It just goes to show... a year a ago i did not know jack squat about fpv, now i know squat but one thing that i have come to understand is that these smaller quads are really not the juniors to the 5" racers, or at least they stand their own ground quite well and not only are not a compromise but in many ways very much the equals. And of course like you summarized towards the end, this is perhaps not for veterans but then everything has its place and of course this is not a racer but heck, to me anything over 5mph is a racer! The silent nature of this quad is something very appealing, keep those nosy "i am going to call the cops on you" neighbors and other people minding their own business. Thanks Nick, great reviews as always.

Just ordered one, almost new to FPV flying. The fact that it's basically almost silent appeals to me alot as that will allow me to practice in my garden alot without freaking out the neighbours. Soldering on an ELRS receiver is going to be a daunting task for a beginner like me but well; it's gotta start somewhere. After that getting it all to work using betaflight and who knows what will be a challenge as well. Yeah, I should have bought a ready to fly kit. I know that, but this one had the perfect appeal for me. Thank you for this review.

@M M It went quite well all in all. Binding was a hassle indeed. I remember having to make sure elrs both on the drone and the receiver had to be the same version before it worked. Also found out the USB cable didn't always connect just like that to get to the drone in betaflight. It's quite some hurdles us beginners have to take at first.

@jdnic12 жыл бұрын
Yes the motor are for 2s. But I've been doing builds like this, where I take a 6s motor (lower kv) and run it on 4s. The lower kv meant that it has more windings, therefore more torque. The trick is now that you are running a low kv motor, you now have to match it with a prop that's higher pitch. That's why on this build they went with a 3 blade prop.
@661FPV2 жыл бұрын
+1 for the 2s and biblades suggestion. I see alot of others agree. I had a 3" with 1103 8500kv on biblades and 2s and it flew great. Still think 1102 is too small for a 3" triblade, but if it's light enough it will work. Mabey like 2s 300mah (2x 1s)

Haha same for me nick with the rubber band, but for me I think it's an "ocd" sort of thing. Very similar flight times to my ultralight babytooth. Good review, the quiet nature of this quad is very appealing. To me that could be a big reason to buy. Also as i am listening to this video I can't help but laugh along, After 12 min in. Nick notes how it took him quite some time to get the canopy back on and then at 12:42 he mentioned that the quad did not come with any info on the FC. And when he went to the website he could not find one. Not surprising, this hobby seems to do this quite often and as a newbie it can make figuring things out next to impossible. Or at least it takes a lot longer to eventually find the info you need than is necessary. And I do find the fact that so many companies do this very puzzling - I mean I know that it would be a little extra work to get that info. in the box or at least on the website but it is not that much work so please FPV companies, do better with your support and documentation! acknowledges that it ever existed. And that link was for the Caddx app to change settings on the camera system.

@@GMx_1 We go to bed with our head spinning sometimes. Others might even have trouble sleeping. This hobby can be so frustrating, in the long run.....worth it 😀
@GMx_12 жыл бұрын
@@NickBurnsFPV Yes it is. It is just when I got my first quad - a BNF from HobbyTown about 7 years ago I opened the box and saw... Betaflight and flashing and CLI information and... what is a flight controller anyway? My heli's and planes don't have them... and the shop had little ability to support as that was not something they had experience in at that time. So I got my quad going with my spectrum radio and receiver and crappy FS goggles (the older ones were really not good... plus I am sure the VTX was probably not that good either)... Flew numerous times but all of a sudden one day one motor was not working - so OK, lets fix... OK nothing wrong with the motor, the ESC checks out... so lets take a look at the FC - well long story short I thought I backed up the firmware and CLI data but that turned out not to be true and I flashed the wrong firmware and bricked my $350 quad. So I left that hobby for a number of years until 1/1-2 years ago where I thought things have moved forward so much let's try again... So I bought all individual parts to build one and wouldn't you know it... the documentation and info available was pathetic and that is being nice... in some cases not available, in one case it was wrong!!! My FC for the quad I intended to build came with the wrong info and as a result... could not get it working and could not understand why as I had exactly followed the info about the board layout... which was giving me the wrong info! So POP, magic smoke, and one less FC in this world as a result. And I am out like $80! for NOTHING. That one hurt! And so it was right back in that same spot when I left years back... but now I have seen so many KZbin videos of people having so many good results and fun including your great channel so I said i have to overcome this... so I bought a BNF... and guess what... it did not work out of the box!!! I contacted the vendor for help and went back and forth try this try that.. hmm that's odd kind of stuff... As it would turn out it literally had a defective FC... but the vendor was awesome and very supportive and apologized and they felt bad and gave me a 10% discount on my next quad purchase - which I applied to the replacement one for the defective quad. that was a lot of trouble to go through for about $15 but i do feel that they did the right thing for sure, it was not their fault. So finally I am actually back flying after all of that so I can imagine that if this was my experience that it is possible and probably likely that lots of others are having a similar experience. So message to the people that make the electronics the FC, the ESC, the VTX, any on board DVR like the Turtle from Caddx, the cameras, all of you PLEASE provide clear and accurate info. on your products. And to the bind and fly folks - PLEASE provide a clear list of exactly what components are in our BNF so if there is trouble we know exactly where to look for information. And yes, recently (and possible for longer but I only know what I had in hand) many of these products are coming now with adequate documentation which is so helpful. I recently bought a GEPRC Cinepro and the documentation that came with it was very good. All components used in the build were identified with a manufacturers PN, the components on board all had good documentation... except for the Caddx tarsier, that was not so good but at least the thing works and this story is long enough so I will end on the note that this thing is a ton of fun to fly and yes, this took me a long time to get here so if you are having difficulties (not you Nick) I think if you just take a deep breath and start working the issues you will find that the answers are not that hard to find anymore - there are so many great forums to help and YT videos available - take a lazy Saturday and watch a few hours and you will learn a lot. Cheers!

Heck, if the board could do 3s, I think those motors could too. This would be such a better seller for T-Motor if it RIPPED on 2s! 😎🤘

1404's on 2s would make that little thing rip

My sweet spot copter turned out to be Xknight frames, 1408 motors, racekraft bi-props running 550-800 4s batts.

1102 motors seem a bit overkill for that size/weight quad, surely 0802 would have made more sense with 65mm bi-blade props.
@NickBurnsFPV2 жыл бұрын
Then we also need a much smaller frame too 😆
@cccagley52762 жыл бұрын
65mm props on an 0802 motor is no good IMO. Maybe 1002's but not 0802. Those are for 40mm props.

Also I might suggest to the manufacturer that a small increase in the size of the canopy could go a really long way. Yea, I get the every gram counts on a 1s quad. Also to all manufacturers, there is ZERO excuse to not provide clear information and documentation regarding the components... after all even at $160 to me and I am sure to many others that is a lot of money and we deserve to be able to maintain these without spending a few hours scouring the internet hoping that someone has some information... Your video says "their response is I had finally figured it out..." So i take it that their response was no response and I am guessing that this was just a little lounge tie moment in narration. Yea, I do not like that. Perhaps you meant something different than this but that is what I could hear... So how awesome would a quad be that goes up just a touch on the motors, same props, 2S, perhaps with HD Zero... It is like this design is pushing the limits of these options so there should be a design where everything very comfortably falls into place and the performance would reflect that. And a question - you mention in this video you mention your favorite quad but you did not way what it is, can you tell us?

It’s sad that this is supposed to compete with DarwinFPV’s version of babytooth. It’s not, but we all know it exists. Brings pretty much nothing to the table. Honestly, this is why fpv sucks, because it’s Chinese companies who have zero idea of what’s really cool. They just don’t have the diversity of ideas and the competition for it or something. I’m ranting now, but seriously, I cannot believe that this is what t-motor came up with. Low risk, low reward, and I.p’m ashamed that Nick even reviewed this.

Not every quad is for everyone…as I say. Some really want this for the flight time and silence, even knowing how poorly it flies. Being ashamed I reviewed???? I am not, if no one reviews a product how is the market to have any idea what a product is like. There is a service to the community to review products I don’t like or I don’t want to fly. That service is information. Before my review did anyone know how it flew or the lack of AIO wire map or that it came with no tune or vtx tables? That’s valuable information. If we turn our nose up at a product based on paper specs we also can miss the opportunity to find a diamond in the rough. That’s my rant 😁. Not mad just my perspective on the topic and why I review some products.
