I noticed that too. That's probably why they decided to cast him as young Elton John for that movie. Also, Elton John played himself in Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017), which starred Taron Egerton. I think that's why they named his character 'Johnny'. After Elton 'John'. That literally just occurred to me a few days ago. I don't know if anyone else noticed first.

What I like is that Buster never really lies. The prize amount being wrong was genuinely an honest mistake. And as soon as he discovers the mistake, rather than puncture everyone's expectations immediately, he does everything in his power to get the promised amount to give and MAKE his accidental lie the truth first, with every intention of fessing up and explaining the situation if he can't.

Just so you know, the cast in this movie, it's actually the actors singing for real. They didn't use any famous singers, lip sync or anything like that. The director wanted to make this movie special by looking for actors who can sing really good and it really paid off well. A lot of these actors who sing have admitted they wanted to be singers, but backed away as they didn't want to get their hopes up cause we all know singing is a very challenging and competitive career. Even Scarlett Johansson admitted before she got into acting, she wanted to be a hit rock musician. But after she had seen her competition and saw other singers better than her, she didn't want to get her hopes up and felt shut down. Which is why she had plan b, which was acting. But thankfully through this movie, she can express her singing like the other actors. They may have not become singers, but this movie really gave them that opportunity.

Back in 2016, the animated film I was mostly interested in at the time was Zootopia (which shared the same release year as Sing). This film went under my radar after experiencing Zootopia, until it was released on home media later. I was still curious about it so I finally sat down and watched it. Ash’s song “Set It All Free” is quite the ear catcher. Scarlett Johansson gave a great performance in her singing. Likewise for Kingsman Star Taron Egerton as Johnny. Whether it’s Sam Smith, John Legend, or Sir Elton John. He nailed it as Johnny with his own singing prowess! I’ll bet it was Sing and Kingsman: The Golden Circle that convinced Sir Elton himself to cast Taron to play him in Rocketman after this. And of course, Seth MacFarlane! His role as Mike? Mike's character feels very much like a family friendly version of one of the characters on Seth Mcfarlane's shows (like Family Guy, American Dad, etc) Which makes sense because he voices like half the characters on his shows anyway, so he's experienced in voice acting. And I do respect that the film uses him to introduce kids to the jazz genre of music. The soundtrack could've easily been all pop rock songs, but I appreciate the diversity. I found all the characters to be pretty likeable in the end!

I'm not trying to knock your opinion, but Sing 2 wasn't all that. I wish it was, but it wasn't. It didn't have that substance that the first movie had. The emotional aspect took quite a hit because it felt as though the entire thing was half-baked. And the problems they went through in the second movie felt very trivial in comparison to the first one. It didn't feel like it occupied a tiny space in their lives compared to the ones in the first. And not to mention that there was a lot of things happening that didn't feel properly addressed or finished. The plot just wasn't it. I desperately wanted to like the movie, love it even, but it didn't meet expectations. I liked the first better. But it's alright if anyone has a contrary opinion. Tell me what you guys thought. I'd love to hear different opinions.

My younger brother once pointed out to me that "The Greatest Showman" and "Sing" have very similar plotlines: there's a guy struggling with his show, so he goes out to find various people with unique talents (who are all of very different backgrounds), and then something happens to the theater (in "Sing," it's the flood, and in "Greatest Showman," the fire), he gives up and thinks it's all hopeless for him, and then the performers come find him and bring him back on his feet and they have to work together and figure out how to bring back the show. And what's important is that they have each other. What's even more interesting is that "Greatest Showman" (2017) came out exactly a year after "Sing" (2016). Plus, at the beginning, when Buster's narrating, he says the words "the greatest showman." Coincidence? I think not Unconfirmed fun fact: Gunther in this movie is inspired by Gunther Hessenfeffer from "Shake It Up" (which, now come to think of it, goes back to what I said about the similarities between "TGS" and "Sing" because Zendaya was in "TGS" and "Shake It Up"). Because he's flamboyant, is a great dancer, and loves to wear sparkly leotards/outfits. And he has a German/distinct accent. Tell me they aren't the same character

The names of Rosita's piglets are: Iggy, Perry, Carla, Gail, Rory, Mickey, Moe, Nelson, Hannah, Tess, Kelly, Andy, Freddy, George (Fred and George), and Caspar. It's so cute how they sing along to "I'm Still Standing" and "Don't You Worry Bout a Thing." Edit: I just noticed at 41:40, that kangaroo whose daughter sang "We can dance if we want to" is calling the alligator at the jail. Fun fact: "I'm Still Standing" was originally performed by Elton John. And after Taron Egerton sang it as Johnny in "Sing," Elton John asked him to play him in "Rocketman" cause he thought Egerton did such a great job singing it.

I understand he wants to make his shows and all, but as a person in the film industry, I'd be PISSED if someone gave me a cheque that bounced and got away with it, not to mention stealing power from next door and so forth; Also, Mike. Absolute unlikeable character and I didn't feel any kind of connection to him, even though a fair chunk of the film focuses on his jerkiness. As far as I can tell though, he died during the ending of "Sing"and didn't appear in 2, so theres that.

Yeah, Scarlett Johansson voiced Ash. No wonder her character has an amazing voice.

Nick is revealed to not be familiar with who the minions are and what movie they belong in. I know what he needs to watch next 😂 Also Sing is amazing

I like the song covers in this movie. Both songs I know and songs I hear for the first time for example: I’m still standing when I saw the movie for the first time

Johnny is also my favorite. And his song near the end was amazing, always one of my favorites.

I totally don't have the sound track... XD I love this movie. Saw it in theatres with my mom and cousin as part of our Christmas tradition. We were the only ones in the theatre, and we were all singing to the songs and everything XD Such great memories

48:17 It's pretty funny now that Johnny sings this song... Because Taron Egerton (his voice actor) played the role of Elton John in 2019 in Rockteman !

All cartoons are childish... that's what makes them so great for adults. It reminds us of our youth and reinforces some of the life lessons we long forgot.

I love that the actor who played Johnny is also the main character in the Kingsman movies. It is awesome that, after he sang this Elton John song in this movie, Elton John also appeared in the second Kingsman movie, and after that, he got to actually play Elton John in Rocket Man. Such a glorious little confluence between those two.

Loved this reaction so much. I don't watch many animated movies now as an adult but this really got my full attention and I can 100% watch over and over. If you love the character Johnny and his version of I'm still standing I suggest you, if you haven't already, watch Rocketman. The actor, Taron Egerton, that voices Johnny actually plays Elton John and sings all the songs in it 😊
