At times, even taking a walk amongst Nature , feels like a meditation. It clears out the mind and has a soothing effect on the body. Oh my goodness Nick. This is exactly what is happening to me RIGHT NOW! My job has burned me out in a big way. It's constantly GO GO GO. Working 16 hours days, Saturdays and Sundays living out of hotels, out of state for days and days. This one is so appropriate for me today. As a matter of fact I've put in notice to resign today. 2 weeks notice and it's the first time in 4 years I've thought about my job and smiled, knowing the end is coming in 2 weeks feels so great. I have a new one lined up with a whole week off in between to recenter and recalibrate myself. Thank You so much my friend! 🙏👍🏻🙂❤️

thank you. as an autistic person, i often feel like work never stops for me - my senses, my body, my mind seems to be working at all times. yoga and meditation helps me. but also, as you said, simple tasks - cleaning, cooking, baking, organizing and rearranging things, taking care of my plants, doing something in nature, drawing or painting. i also like to read books or lay on a beach but mostly i am one for "progressive relaxation", getting lost in the flow of an action. i therefore have huge troubles finishing my studies. they interest me a lot but at the same time i get into a very dark place when I have to use my head too much.

This is perfect. I left corporate to serve people with psychic/spiritual work but have noticed that my over-achieving tendencies have followed me to this new role. I mediate frequently for spiritual development, but only recently realized that I'm still working while doing that. So I've gotten into a daily routine and "purposesless" meditation. It's going well so far.

I hit burnout in the first few months of 2020. So much so that I say I "came out the other side". I have learned recently to stop worrying about what may come or criticizing myself for what was. I try to focus on the here and now and leave off worrying about things that may never even come to pass. And you know what? I feel happier and more at peace than I ever have before. I fall time and again, but when I feel myself going down, I think "no stop that. You don't need to worry about that. Just let it go." I'll look into more physical activity to see how this helps me. thank you for the wonderful message! Blessings to you!

I've come to realize the benefit of regular house cleaning chores. Dusting, wiping counters, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, laundering, sorting out and discarding unneeded items. Doing it slowly with intention, then showering, and sleeping. Weekends and weekdays to purify the mind. I dedicate this work for the benefit of all. If it benefits my state, it benefits others. I began this a few months ago, based on your talks, Ven Nick. I've heard of this before, but coming from you was a valuable reminder since I find value in everything you talk about. When I felt out of balance, I tried many things you mentioned. I appreciate the discipline, purification and therapeutic aspects.

This was very helpful! I have been coming to a similar conclusion that rest is something that has to be done consciously. The mind has to be able to push the fears and worries away to activate recovery and replenishment of the energies. For the longest time ever, today I took a little bit of time to do a basic mindfulness practice. It was such a wonderful experience that I am beginning to realize that meditation could be a necessity rather than a luxury in terms of maintaining mental stability and performance. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful perspective. ❤️ This video helped me a lot to tie this understanding together. You are such a wonderful teacher! 🙏🏼❤🧡💛 Sending you respect and appreciation!

Ven. Nick, thank you so much for shedding light on such a "burning" topic:) I have been suffering from anxiety and other related issues for years now. During such emotional roller coaster moments( and therefore physical, mental even) , I have learned to engage my mind and body in domestic chores like laundry, mopping, cooking or the dishes. I enjoy gardening the most. The dirt in my nails, the soiled knees and the cuts from the thorns helps me stay mindful and keeps me grounded -literally :) I guess I never knew it's value until I heard the wisdom of these simple rituals from you. So, thank you again as always for validating my experiences 😊🌸🙏

Everyone is burnt-out at the moment: 2 years of uncertainty, challenges and changes. It isn't just about "work-life" balance, because work isn't the only thing that causes stress. And if work is your main stressor in life you need to change your work asap. I have made the decision to take it really easy this year... to take more breaks than I think 'purely necessary'. To do art, to just sit at the window with a glass of tea, to work in the garden.

Hi Nick! There is a huge issue for me concerning thinking too much! I found out last year at 57 that I am an INFJ-T, HSP and my Cancer ♋️ sign reads just like an INFJ! Guess what??? I just got divorced after being with him for 40 years...18 to 58. I had no idea what was wrong BUT boy did I! I became a walking dead person who was raising my daughter adopted from China. I had no idea what the word narcissist meant therefore once both my daughter and I were told I studied everything on the subject! He is without a doubt a full blown malignant narcissist....has all 9 traits in the DSM-5. Then I had to research everything that makes up my very unique personality. Now my whole life which was always a puzzle has come together. Now here comes the funny thing about all of this. My side job which now is full time is cleaning houses and apartments....all by myself! I love doing it, I love being by myself, I LOVE my clients and the money I earn. I am blessed! One problem though I simply cannot ever escape my own mind. I am in shock about everything that has happened to me and my daughter, I am horrified by this war, I am very upset about the election AND I am very VERY concerned for all of humanity! I do laugh at myself when cleaning by thinking in my head "Now I am vacuuming the floor, now I am polishing brass, now I am scrubbing the toilet" while trying to stay in the present moment!🙄🤭 You get the point!🤭 Anyway, I heard another INFJ say when she wakes up her mind instantly turns on just like she has a twin who says "Oh hello...goodmorning!" That is exactly how I feel everyday and every night 24/7. I will keep listening to you, read all the comments, buy your book and finish "Think like a Monk." However, I believe that I will never be able to control my thoughts. Nevertheless, I will persevere forward! Thank you very much for your wisdom! 🌷🙏🥰

Thanks lot Nick for this golden advises. Some time ago I started following a similar aproach. It may be challenging in the global economy where everyone has to compete with everyone. For example if you are working in research and development the number of potential competitors is quasi infinte and they are distributed worldwide. Also the speed at which new ideas and andvances are coming is overwehlming. This make it impossible to follow the example of the skilled workers you presented. So you end up in a cycle where even in your holidays you have to be connected in oder not to loose the brand new ideas. So mastering such situations may be rather difficult. Nevetheless listening to your advices lets us remember that we are here not just for the purpose of working and invite us to try to incorporate here and there some of the wisdom you pointed to.

Goodmorning venerable Nick, thank you all again. Two days ago I wake up and saw that one of my eyes was internally bleeding. Touched the line of burn out. But not spiritually, just physically. It was a tough winter, in a small old house in the terraze of a 7th floor building, totally exposed to strong winds, heavy rains, snow storms, thunders, the moon and the sun and the stars. In a small old house not equipped to resist, but spiritually equipped. I suppose my body says, leave as soon as possible☺️☺️I am looking for a small new house more normal to rent🌈 The summer was exhausting and the winter tough. I couldn't have made it without following a disciplined daily routine and a more healthy approchment towards adversities. Whatever happens around you always maintain your kindness, it's harmony. Sadhu venerable Nick and brothers and masters of the monastery🛡️🌈

Thank you so much. This video came out at the exact perfect time for me. I am currently experiencing all the symptoms you just said and I will give a try to your advices. I was already practising Qi gong meditations on a daily basis but as soon as I went out in the real world, I couldn't stay present without my mind stressing and wondering.
