The promedia gear L brackets are nice but their customer support isn’t the best. Two of the screws stripped on my Lbracket for the battery grip and I had to fight with them to send me more screws. They wanted to charge me $20 for replacements! I had to threaten to make a video about how easily the screws stripped before they would send them to me!!! Needless to say I ended up switching to the Falcam Cage for my R5 which basically doubles as an L Bracket. They finally got smart and made the side of the cage cable of vertical mounting on a tripod! It’s an amazing cage and product line by Ulanzi!!!

I also recommend you to make a photo course for beginners in photography that could be purchased in your website premium tutorials.

I appreciate the kind words. Thank you! Image quality wise. They are very similar with the R5 having a bit more resolution, but the Sony has a bit more dynamic range. For me, the biggest difference is the user experience and the weathersealing and durability. My Sony gear just didn’t hold up well in the elements that I put my camera gear through. I struggled a lot with a hotshoe, getting wet and constantly fighting there. This accessory not supported error. The biggest difference for me is just the enjoyment of use. I enjoy using the canon, a whole lot more because of the quality of the screens, touchscreen, the feeling of the buttons feeling of the camera and the menu system because I learned on Canon it was like going back to something old and familiar.

I'm quite surprised you choose to travel with that tripod. I thought you'd treat you 100-500 with beefier options in your collection. I own an EF 100-400 L II and travel tripods like peak design or similar will just not damp and provide the adequate stiffness for these long zooms especially at the longer end(Yes, even with center column collapsed all the way in they're still pretty springy). I splashed big and got myself a TFC 34 and now I have to figure it out how to travel with it on flights. I mean, it's not hard to see that its pricey to be put in the checked luggage and there's always a possibility of misplaced baggage, but it's also pretty heavy and long when folded up for carry on(on the brink of too long to be allowed almost).

Love the video and update on your gear, but one thing I’m wondering with you going lighter with the 14-35f4 instead of the 15-35f2.8 is what you do for any Astro you might still shoot? Are you using the f4 or are you using the 16f2.8? I have the 16 and it’s decent for Milky Way but when I rented the 15-35 I noticed a huge difference. I’m in the market for my wide zoom and would love to save weight with the f4 but also do maybe 10% of my landscape photography at night and the 16mm does leave a bit to be desired despite taking no room and costing very little. Thanks as always for being such a great teacher and so generous with information!

Hey Nick, I know it’s 8 months old this vid now, but I’m hoping to get one of these bags over the weekend and I’m wondering, do you think the X35 with the large mirrorless core, would fit a Canon 300 2.8 ii or 400 DO ii? Either are my go to lens for wildlife, and as much as I’d prefer to hike with a 100-500, those faster primes play a big roll for me and I’d hate to get this bag to find out they won’t fit. The large DSLR core unit only fits in the X40 apparently.. which may be too large for me. The lens hood is 6” wide, and the large mirrorless core is saying 4.7” Depth, but if there’s extra space in the bag it may still fit?

Nick, I've often read that because Canon cameras have an anti-aliasing filter, the images will not be as sharp as cameras without one, for example the Sony that you used to use. Have you noticed any difference in sharpness because of that? I was always curious if that was something really visible in real world practice.
@NickPage
@NickPage Жыл бұрын
Honestly, I’ve never noticed the difference. The 70 files are definitely slightly higher in resolution perhaps a little bit of that as the aliasing filter or the lack there of. Perhaps it’s just the fact that it’s got a few more megapixels, but the canon files are totally suitable for professional use.

Nick, did you say the bag was and action x 35? I don't see 35 on their website, just 25, 30, 40, and 70.

It’s a nice medium size for flying. Definitely no issues leaving it attached to the bag when carrying on.

Do you feel that butter colored bag will get dirty more quickly? I have the black one.
@NickPage
@NickPage Жыл бұрын
I was wondering that as well, I got this color more as an experiment than anything, but it actually hides the dirt better than my black bag simply because it’s in the brown spectrum. I think the green bag hides it best, but the black shows the dirt, the worst. The color of the bag is actually growing on me.
