Thank you for the tour! I gasped several times and slowed down the video to see the plants better! You have such an eye for matching pots and plants, it makes them look incredible. I'm trying to develop that skill. I'm inspired!

I really like that mealy bugs just seem to be apart of your echo system and you seem so calm about it. I used to get so worked up about pests so it’s reassuring to see that your plants are still thriving even with pests. It inspires me to calm the heck down when pests make an appearance.

What beautiful surroundings you've created for yourself! Thank you for letting us tour your home! I have about a third of the plants you have and I'm beginning to feel they are too many. I don't have a lot of "free" time and the little I have gets invested mostly in plant maintenance. I love all of them (and the wellbeing they add to my life) and don't want to end up resenting the work I put into them, so I HAVE to edit my collection and keep only the ones that I have really good conditions for so both they and I can be truly happy.

I am super envious of your maiden hair fern. I have tried so many times to grow it unsuccessfuly. I am even more envious of Muffin! My black cat Gypsy is a plant nibbler. And I had to downsize too from 236 to 76. I came to my senses in early 2023. I do have a few plants I still want, but will never have more than 100 house plants again! I recently found a baby Thai Constellation, my #1 dream plant. I also forget that "plants grow" lol

The syngoniums which I've had for generations (propagations), for 40 yrs, has transformed into various types, depending on the environment. The shoots which planted itself outside turned into syngonium auritum (arrowhead)with huge leaves (7" diameter, the larger ones now becoming 5 lobed leaves), whereas the ones in pots remain regular podophyllum (white or yellow veins) depending on light. Some are all green, if in shade. The leaves come in various shapes also, from thin to wide. I find this a very amusing form of hybridization at home! ...Your collection is astonishing, as usual, and your new auritum reminded me I should attend to my syngoniums! Thanks for the tour.

I have been watching you for a couple of years now and you really have lost your mojo with the plant names. You used to blow my mind with how many names just rolled right off you tongue. I am loving that you are collecting Aglaonemas too! They are one of my top 3 all time favorite house plants! I just love them all and your Red Emerald is to die for. And when you opened your cabinet I saw the Golden Madonna up top, but I didn't know which one it was so I was waiting for you to tell me. And as I thought "ok here it comes..." you ......went to the bottom shelf first. Then when you finally made it to the top...you went to the right first. LOL I did add a few new plants to my wish list after your video. But if a plant no longer brings you joy but gives you anxiety, throw it away or give it away. It doesn't matter what you paid for it. Get rid of the plants not bringing you joy and that will free up space and time for the remaining plants and you will have more time to fuss with the plants you love. I JUST got today in plant mail from BWH Plant Co. a Coniogramme Emeiensis 'Golden Zebra Bamboo Fern', BOY! is that plant gorgeous!! And a Calathea Makoyana, one of my wish list plants. You did a really great job sectioning that huge open space into living areas. You made it all feel cozy.
@kathylovejoy25695 ай бұрын
lisa, I agree with you. Too many plants all jumbled up, looks messy and un-cared for. Plants that he has forgotten about, since putting them there. Give them away or if too bad toss them and tidy up the keepers.

I had never seen the Scindapsus pictus 'Luscens'! My Scindapsus pictus 'Exotica' is one I'd keep if I could only have 10 plants, and this Luscens looks like one that I'd adore to add to my collection. Interesting, because I don't usually love a lot of the blue-gray plants that are so popular (like Cebu Blue), but that one made my heart skip a beat!

Wow! Impressive collection Nick....and knowing the Latin names. I'd definitely do a bit of a toss and snip here and there. 20% are either in need of repropagating due to long stems with very few leaves and 20% of plants that you don't really like maybe rehome? Then you could keep on top of the pests and actually see how they're doing. Love agleonemas BTW. Your red one is exceptional. Love the bean bag for Muffin...like a king size bed for humans.😊

34:36 Hoya Campanulata was first published as Hoya Cystiantha. It is the same plant; the difference on the amount of splash would be equal to an Obovata and Obovata Splash (just variations of the same species)
