Everyone's always talking how amazingly fast Kimi was in his McLaren days. But his Lotus season is probably the most remarkable year of his career. I think Kimi lost a bit of his motivation after 2007 but found the spark again at Lotus. He drove like he did in 2002-2005.

Kimi didn't just lose his motivation. It was the team actively sabotaging him and ruining his chances due to the extreme politics and bullshit from Luca Di Montezemolo and Santander too for that matter. All for what? Just to get Fernando in that seat? Money talks too it seems. In a way the Scuderia literally self destructed by screwing Kimi- Already He was looking good to win in 2008 and may well and truly have won in 2010, 2012, (possibly) 2013, 2017 and 2018 with the scarlet team without any politics whatsoever.

lotus, kimi and grosjean would definitely have won more races, or possibly the championship if pirelli wasn't weak and incompentent to change tyre compounds under pressure from red bull. given the data and requirements of 2013 tyres, lotus designed a car that suited the tyres. red bull didn't but had a big whinge and pirelli caved.

+sultanabran1 Would have a few more races but maybe not enough for the championship. Even though the Lotus that Kimi and Grosjean has the car at that time was very well suited for tyre management. One big flaw for Kimi back then was his qualifying run where he never was able to get the temperature. But then who knows what might have happened. Sadly Red Bull just bitched about it and they got what they want. As a result the Lotus in particular Kimi suffered a lot that year.

Wrong. In the first half of 2013 Kimi's was amazing in quali. The tyre change ruined f1 in mid 2013. Ensured total dominance.

Watching the 2013 season on F1tv and what a drive by Kimi. Great to have this to supplement the viewing experience post race.

Kimi and Fernando are also good at tyre management. He should compare Kimi and Vettel or Hamilton.

Dig on Alonso?? Rob made it very clear about Kimi and Alonso 's differences. Alonso is slightly agressive while Kimi is more of a straightline driver. And all drivers require quick adaption to the car as the car behave differently from lap to lap due to tyres and decrement of fuel load. However, the driving nature remain the same, it's the core for every driver.

I'd like to hear Rob's analysis of Melbourne. He has always been a fan of Bottas. I would be interested in his opinion regarding the relaxation of the driver weight rules and whether he thinks this will have an impact on Bottas season.

I was looking at your comment thinking oh not another rant, But after listening to what Rob Wilson had to say I now understand your comment. I don't understand why he feels the need to big Kimi up so much? listen to what he say's about Alonso at 2:00 into the video, It's just a dig. This is coming from a arm chair fan But you know what makes the difference between a good driver and a great driver is a great driver can adapt and change his driving style to the situation he finds himself.

the team found some bugs on kimi 's car during saturday evening. it will be solved by shanghai gp.
@robertwhitten26511 жыл бұрын
Haha, he is saying exactly the opposite. He's saying Kimi is a straight line driver and not going for high cornering speed. Schumacher likes to plant the front wheel and steer with rear and tries drive through the corner as fast as possible even if he has to brake little early.
@umeshsurenthiran92057 ай бұрын
Exactly both Schumi and Kimi liked a pointy front end with a slight touch of oversteer.

Kimi is TOO sensitive for modern F1 and has shown an inability to quickly adapt in the last few years. Same might be said for Vettel soon if he doesn't up his game.
