This can only happen to the deepest most sensitive, artistic and intelligent beings; painfully fragile to the effects of the insensitivity of others. That's where the 'scary' look comes from- it takes years and masses of sensitivity and personality to come close to understanding. Most, never will- in a way they're lucky. Drugs are the symptom not the cause, in her case. Poor girl- I wish she'd lived long enough to have a better chance at happiness. I hope she's in peace now

Not sure, but I think this interview was recorded in the Warehouse Club in 1982, when I was also in a band. When you're on stage, it can be disorientating...so you pick out three people to sing to...1 to the left; 1 in the centre; 1 on the right. I was the guy on the left. I had also taken some LSD, so I had a pretty groovy night!

It wasn't Manchester Uni - it was actually at the Sheffield Leadmill and I was there on the night this was recorded!!! She'd been due to play a while before and the gig was cancelled as she was in hospital with septicemia. I have a video ( somewhere in my attic ) of the performance. I have fond memories of seeing her play live - such a tragic shame the way she died.

How could the interviewer not ask about Jim Morrison? Glad he at least asked about The Velvet Underground and Andy Warhol. Boring questions, but still absolutely fascinating.
