Nicola Sturgeon left Douglas Ross red faced during a fiery debate in the Scottish Parliament today after she exposed his dismal voting record.
The Scottish Conservative leader and the First Minister clashed over reports earlier this week about NHS chiefs talking about making wealthy Scots pay for treatment in a two-tier system.

The Tories promised 40 new hospitals then it was reduced to 20 then it turned out in the end it was 6 this is due to shortage of GP’s and lack of doctors

Why have I waited 6 years for an operation I was also admitted to the new Southern General and spent 6 hours in a waiting room waiting for a bed keeping patients waiting in an ambulance 8 hours for a bed and just as footnote Sturgeon has closed 10 wards in Strathclyde this year but the Daily Record never reported that. Charging the wealthy for treatment by GOD the wealthy will be no where near the NHS If I could afford it I would be off NHS Scotland is in the bin.

In Scotland 0.5% of the Scottish NHS budget goes to private health care. In Tory control England 7% of NHS England budget goes to private health care. People who self fund for private health care in Tory England the figure is 15% higher than in Scotland , in Labour run Wales the figure is 30% higher than Scotland. The Tories in England have only offered the English NHS workers a 4% pay rise to avert a Strike. The Scottish government has offered Scottish NHS workers between 7.5% -11.32% backdated to April to try and avert a strike.

Scotland is the future. Just look at this AWESOME parliament! And the calm way that conversations are had. The Speaker ("Presiding Officer") is extremely strict ... I love it. The real decline in the NHS started with Kenneth Clark in the 1980’s, just when the likes of General Practice was looking good, followed by Blair’s New Labour which was in effect just another form of Toryism. Instead of increasing the numbers of qualified doctors and nurses to meet the predicted increase in demand, they irresponsibly introduced this thing called “skill mix” which looked good on paper, but which inexorably formed an invisible wall between patients and doctors to the extent that continuity of patient care has now virtually disappeared. It really is the saddest thing.

In 2008-2009 the then Labour Government proposed to open 3 new doctor taining centres albeit in England. The British Medical Association who represent doctors said NO. Reason: this would undermine the profession!

Even today, in longstanding Medical Schools, political interference has resulted in drastic, quick fix, destructive changes in the way medical students and junior doctors are chosen and trained. I’m generalising of course, but, from personal experience, junior doctors (not including my own GP) show no interest in continuity of care preferring what I call “hit and run” medicine by working part time or doing locums. Conclusion:- politicians and medical administrators have not the foggiest notion about providing good medical care.

Many GP surgeries are now run as LLPs, a knife in the standard of care. Many friends who have sons and daughters having completed their medical studies, completed their time in the NHS leaving for eg Australia in order to have a better life/work balance. As you have stated, it is truly sad, and sickening, to watch the collapse of a care system which provided a standard of care from cradle to grave which was value for money in terms of a healthy and productive environment for the majority. What the future holds is nothing short of an abysmal dereliction of duty by those in power to protect its people.
