Nicolas Cage has done it all - starring in more than 100 movies - from cult classics Vampire’s Kiss, Raising Arizona and Longlegs; to Hollywood blockbusters The Rock, Face Off, Con Air, Gone In 60 Seconds and National Treasure; and who can forget his Oscar-winning performance in Leaving Las Vegas.
But in spite of a career spanning five decades - he became a parody after memes and montages mocking his acting style went viral.
And after losing his $150 million fortune in the 2008 financial crisis, Cage was forced into becoming a ‘Video on Demand’ actor to pay off his debts - a move which didn’t help his reputation.
But with his debts now cleared, we’re witnessing a renaissance with films like Pig, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Renfield and Dream Scenario - showing Cage is no joke.
He’s a master of reinvention - whether it be changing his name from Coppola; adopting a German expressionist approach in Moonstruck; his experimental performances in Wild At Heart, Adaptation and Mandy; method acting in Birdy; or his so-called Nouveau Shamanism style in Ghost Rider.
