One of the best places to get Malaysian street food in Kuala Lumpur is in Chinatown. Known for it's incredible blend of Malay and Chinese cuisine, this is foodie heaven in Kuala Lumpur, and we wanted to do it justice! To have the best experience possible, we did our food tour with A Chef's Tour. If you want to do this same tour, just click this link: achefstour.com/tour/kuala-lum...
If you've watched some of our other food tour video in India or Singapore, you already know how much we love doing food tours with A Chef's Tour. This time, in Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown, our guide Kiran took us down the backstreets of Petaling as she showed us shop after shop filled with the most amazing smells you can imagine. Even in these small streets and alleys you will find many Michelin rated dishes that have been handed down through many generations. We got to try the famous asam laksa, lala noodles, cendol, peanut muah chee, char siu bao, and so much more!
This Malaysian street food tour was an incredible way to explore more of Kuala Lumpur and learn about Malaysia's rich and colourful history. The Chinese influence in Malaysia is very strong as many Chinese immigrants arrived in Malaysia in the 19th and 20th centuries. Going on a street food tour in Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown is a great way to experience the ethnic diversity in Malaysia. The food is incredible, and its such an exciting way to better understand the country of Malaysia.
In case you missed it, we have ANOTHER Malaysia food tour video up on our channel (yes, we love food THAT much), and we also have a first impressions of Kuala Lumpur video! To see the full Malaysia playlist, click here: • Malaysia Travel Vlogs

Hey there! We are Nicole and Mico and in March 2021, we quit our jobs, sold our belongings, and began traveling the world! We never thought we'd be making travel vlogs on KZbin, but after realizing that we had a unique opportunity to share our adventure and make the world feel more familiar and inviting to anyone watching, we took the leap and picked up the camera! We hope our videos show how wonderful, delicious, and friendly the world can be.

All of the A Chef's Tour's have been really cool to see all of the regional foods and beverages, but you guys looked like you really had a fun time on this food tour. That coffee looked so good with your peanut spread sandwich, but what was the favorite dish of the day?

Asam Laksa was once voted second best noodle dish in the world after Pad Thai by CNN. Last year it was number 1 in the Time Out global list.

So amazing! We’ve seen it’s won some amazing awards. Mico loved it, but I’m not a big fan of sour foods. I’m still so glad I got to try!

@@nicoleandmico Quite an acquired taste. Especially those who are fish-intolerant 🤗. Too much umami in the soup/gravy.

You guys have just discovered the tip of the iceberg in terms of food choices as there're so much more to be explored, claypot chicken rice, nasi lemak, nasi kandar, wan tan noodles, beef noodles and Char Kueh Teow just to name a few!😂😊

Totally! We actually tried most of the dishes you just mentioned in our first food tour in Kuala Lumpur. They were amazing!

@nicoleandmico Yes, they're more to come. The more popular dishes would be the ones stated above, but they're those which are less well known, but taste so good, heard of Bak Kut Teh(Chinese herbal pork stew), Putu Mayam (Indian vermicelli served with brown sugar and dry coconut), Ikan masak Asam Pedas (fish cuts cooked with dry tamarind and chilli paste)? Do give it a try!😊👌

I watched anthony bourdain's no reservation show before and I will rephrase what he said: Malaysian cuisine is not aesthetically appealing but when you eat it, it is very delicious.

Thanks for another awesome food tour! A Chef’s Tour seems to be your go to company and we can see why. Thanks to your channel we booked A Chefs tour with Avik when we were in Kolkata a few months ago and it was AMAZING! Who was the other guy that was seen several times in the background of your video? It seemed as if you were all following him like maybe he was security?🤔

That is so awesome to hear! Our experience with Avik in Kolkata was one of our favourites, so it's great to heat you also had an awesome time with him!! The fella in this video is Siddoz, he is another one of A Chef Tours' food guides. He was actually our guide for our first food tour in Malaysia and is amazing. He joined us for this tour as he was the guide who worked with A Chef Tours' owners to created this particular tour 😀
