Yoga butt! Hearing you mention this again reminded me: I’m cured! Until I heard you mention ‘yoga butt’ early in the pandemic, I thought my problem was a running injury. I’ve been beleaguered with them for years. Quarantine temporarily cut off my access to sport’s health pros , and when you mentioned it last spring, it set me on a path to fixing the problem. Being born so bendy, I never realized that I was over stretching. Now, I’m very careful to balance hamstring and quad stretches, and and my painful yoga butt has been gone for about 6 months! So thanks!! Not only for being a bright spot in a bad year and helping me stay connected to my practice, but for pointing towards a cure.

I know I keep saying this, but this is my new favorite sequence! I was only 15 minutes into this class and beaming with how much I loved the stretches and poses and all the yummy feelings they give me. The entire practice was wonderful and just what I needed, especially after a 29 mile run for my birthday this past weekend. Hi! Thanks for practicing with me! I have had this yoga mat for 5-6 years and it has never left the floor in my studio space. It's WAY too big to roll up and move around, but if you have a place where you can just leave it out, I highly recommend! It's the Manduka teacher's mat.

Thank your so much for this beautiful practice! In the video, you mentioned the „Yoga butt“ - do you have any recommendations what could help with that injury? I have injured that part over a year ago and I can still feel it in forward folds, I thought may be you’d have experience with that :)

Hi Haje! Thank you for practicing with me :) I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with Yoga-Butt. I haven't experienced it personally, but I know it's a common yoga injury and is a toughie to recover from. From what I understand, it is most often an over-use injury that effects your tendon at the top of the hamstring. The best thing you can do is rest it + be mindful not to overstretch that area. Be gentle and give yourself extra warm-up time in your practice and workouts. And - consider seeing a physical therapist who can fully evaluate the injury and give you more specific advice for you. Also, even once you've recovered you'll want to be careful not to over-stretch these tendons again in the future!

I had "yoga butt" it took about 6 months to get better, but still I occasionally feel act up a bit once in while. Initially I was stubborn and not completely aware of what it was so I thought I could just stretch it out 😅. But after I realized that was working, anytime I felt any bit of pain there while doing yoga I just backed off and just changed poses, its really simple. Physical therapist couldn't do much, was told not to foam roll it or anything to not further irritate it. It many needs rest. But you should always consult a professional to be sure it's not something else.

Hi Shaun! The mat is a Manduka teachers mat :) It is several years old now - but I'd bet they still have it! It's not a mat that you'd move around with you. It stays set up in my studio all of the time and I absolutely love it! I hope this helps!
