You know, I wish that the school district didn't have to redo the fire alarm system if it is going to be demolished, but because the system had the internal ground fault, and laws don't allow fire alarms to have troubles. But still, got to protect the building and everyone in it up until the building's demise comes.

Loved this latest series a lot. Interesting how they left one of the old Edwards heats under the crawlspace instead of replacing. Also interestingly enough; turns out the original wing of this school was built around 1957 and had a slight addition (the section with the cinder block walls) in the late 70s. I’m beginning to suspect that the previous 6500 system was likely installed about then (given the labels on the Durabels) The new system sounds fabulous, now I can definitely tell they’ll be able to hear that no problem in the rooms come next fire drill. Too bad the building’s coming down soon but on the other hand; you’ll be able to salvage lots of compatible spare parts for your house system.
@nics-systems-electric Жыл бұрын
Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed. Yeah looking at some of the as-builts there's been a few different additions there. Hard to say what will happen to the equipment as I'm not sure if they can have a building without a fire alarm system for a period of time I won't be working there anymore by then so I may not know what happens.

46:01 The local fire departments have got to be tired of seeing you guys! xD In all seriousness, do you know what caused the alarm? Aside from false alarms and satisfying panel plastic peels, though, this has been a really good series! If the system is still functioning properly after 5 years, doesn’t it make sense to strip the school of the Fire Alarm system before demolition,save the parts and reuse it?

@charliedumesniljr4719 Жыл бұрын
There’s got to be some kind of safety code in canada that explains it better than we could. I remember being in my high school that didn’t have a proper “working” system. Bare minimum with no strobes, possibly non-addressable. But don’t worry, my school passed a 5.6 million dollar bond that involved a new agricultural building and a whole new fire alarm and phone system
@ElloImNoodle Жыл бұрын
How can a system just be swapped from conventional to addressable. I don’t really understand what makes conventional conventional and addressable addressable
@nics-systems-electric Жыл бұрын
It's pretty simple to swap conventional to addressable you just have one communication loop that all of the old zones become and you have isolator modules to isolate the zones /sections of the building
