I'm with you on the random scrap thing. I once took a class where our scraps were in brown paper bags, one for darks, one for lights. We couldn't look or pick what we wanted - just pull out 2 fabrics and sew them together. I was just not happy with what I sewed in that class. I have to do controlled scrappy.

When doing foundation paper pieced blocks I ALWAYS stay stitch around the edge when done. Do thin inside the seam allowance. This stabilizes the edges and helps prevent stretching and distortion and only takes a minute to do..

Love this pattern! Thanks for sharing Mary. I’m a newer quilter who loves scrappy quilts. Is there a good resource to get enough scraps to make this quilt for someone like me who doesn’t have a stash of scraps?

Actually if you buy a fat quarter stack that has a good balance of light and dark, you probably would have plenty of fabric to make the quilt. It wouldn’t be as scrappy as it would be if you had a stash of scraps, but you could still have a very pretty quilt in the end. You would probably need to add the sashings and borders especially extra yardage.

I bought a good surge protector to plug my sewing machine into, but I always unplug. We get power surgers from our electric company . I have 3 machines and I do not want anything to happen to them. I asked our man that works on our computer which to buy. He uses it.
