Honestly don't understand why people buy Lexus IS or accurate if you want a nice car get a nice car lease it and stop worrying about reliability instead of overpaying for these useless cars just for their so-called brand reliability Cars are changing Technologies changing that owning a car for 10 years is just not logical we no longer live in the world of basic muscle cars and basic cars. A car that's reliable that you want to own for 10 years it's like a beater car a sedan a commuter car to take to the city but if you're going to buy an SUV or something expensive dont. Fun fact about the MDX. Once you collapse the rear floor board behind the third row, you can put five carry-on luggage in the upright position and put two soft bags above them while carrying 7. I have not seen a single reviewer show that. As an owner, i feel that i had to mention it
@ayushmalpeddi279310 күн бұрын
Tight third row and no air vents in the third row makes that kinda pointless unless you just need to get someone to the airport quickly
@Leo_Vasileio10 күн бұрын
@ not really ive sat back there and i can assure you its not that bad. You can slide the second row seats forward and the third row is actually wide. If that's not enough space for you then get an escalade or a qx80.
@ayushmalpeddi27939 күн бұрын
@Leo_Vasileio I think an average person height will fit but it's still a bit tight nonetheless. I'm used to like Acadia and Minivans which can easily support a 6ft individual in all rows. Either way no hvac makes it uncomfortable for longer trims. The bigger issue though is no HVAC vents not great for longer trips

My wife owns this 2025 mdx type s in white and I have a 2025 bmw x5 xdrive40i. She and I both agree that the mdx wins in every category except gas mileage and engine performance. The x5 is missing too many physical controls that make it extremely hard to set while driving, even with the shortcuts. The mdx is superior in comfort and has more of a luxurious vibe.
@Zanderthelab10 күн бұрын
I think all it needs is 400 or 450 horsepower and it would be good.

I'm in the market and down to these two vehicles. I've test driven both and didn't really notice that much difference (at least in the test drive routes that the sales rep takes you on) in performance between the two. According to each manufacture's website, the 375 HP X5 x40 does 5.3 seconds to 60 mph, whereas the 355 HP Type S is 5.5 to 60. Therefore, based on same, the difference appears, at least from a straight line standpoint, to be minimal. Perhaps, from your experiences in owning both, it would be appreciated if you can offer a few details and specifics as to how the X5 engine performance, etc. "wins" there? Thanks. On an aside, one thing that I personally find annoying about Acura as a long time satellite radio user, is their decision to eliminate the satellite Sirius/XM radio band, etc. I realize you can stream it through your phone, however, you are subject to cell signal issues, etc. Additionally, from my understanding as well, is that the particular steering wheel buttons that control the radio, etc., do not function when streaming Sirius/XM, therefore, somewhat problematic.
@Christopher-of-Columbus10 күн бұрын
@ engine performance is minimally better in the BMW but not anything noticeable unless you spend enough time in each to feel a slight difference in the torque. Acceleration just seems slightly smoother in the x5. The x5 cost $4k more even though it doesn’t have all the options that are standard in the mdx type-s, like heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, reclining back seats, massaging front seats, rear window shades, and 3/4 climate zones. The 3rd row is the mdx is nice if you have kids but I’m not sure if it’s an option for the x5 (I could be wrong). You can buy an x5 with many of acura’s standard options, but mine did not include them and yet still cost $4k more than the mdx. I didn’t realize Acura eliminated the satellite radio band. I only used it a few times when we first purchased the car and didn’t realize it was streaming through my phone. One personal annoyance with the x5 is that the cell phone pad is stuck in the storage compartment, which tends to overheat my phone quite often. I like the location of the charging pad in the mdx much better where I can easily see the charging status and reach for it if needed. I was on a few trips in the x5 and didn’t realize until reaching my destination that my phone wasn’t charging. If I had been able to see it better, I would have known sooner. Overall, I love both vehicles and don’t think you can go wrong either way. This is my 3rd bmw (second x5) and my first Acura mdx. The x5 is so much better than earlier years and the myBMW app is the best car app I ever used. I’ll always be a bmw owner but was pleasantly surprised with the Acura. Here are a few other differences that may or may not be important to you: the interior of the mdx has a lot of the glossy, piano black finish, which tends to show fingerprints. My x5 has carbon black fiber finish throughout, which I personally like better. There seem to be more interior lighting settings and options in the mdx but the bmw lights can get brighter than the mdx. The x5 has a lift setting to raise/lower the suspension. I think this can only be done by changing drive modes in the mdx to sand, snow, comfort, performance, etc. The x5 has a single screen display, which is much larger than the display in mdx. The shortcuts are nice but having to push buttons on a screen to enable/disable the heated steering wheel/seats or to adjust the fan isn’t ideal. The mdx has physical controls for this. Good luck in your decision and post an update if you can. Feel free to ask me if you need any more details about either of them.

@@Christopher-of-Columbus Thank you very much for your responses, it's certainly appreciated. I've priced out the X5 build on line that includes everything in the Type S and the X5 build came to about $9K more, that includes 21" wheels, and charges for paint upgrades. If I go the X5 route I would go with the Carbon Black Metallic (very sweet that actually comes across more Midnight Blue in the daylight) and the Platinum Pearl White if I choose the Type S, both with black/ebony interior leather. Our kids are/have been out of the house for a bit, so the 3rd row is not a big deal, other than the additional conveniences it may for the limited times that space is needed for passengers. Of course too, there's the extra convenience in storage space when putting the 3rd row down. Personally, I'm kind of neutral on the gloss black, especially with the ebony interior, however, I would still prefer more of a matte finish or something more similar to the X5. I'm pretty sure that the Type S has a "lift" mode that raises the suspension as much as 9 inches, however, speeds are limited at 30 mph or less I believe. For me, here in the Charlotte area, I doubt I will ever really opt to use/engage it though. As you've mentioned, I do like like the actual physical buttons that the Type S has and it being more ideal, and reading/reviewing elsewhere that the lack of same in the X5 instance isn't. I guess in the end, as with a lot of things, it's to each your own or personal preference. We tend to own and hold on to our vehicle for long time. I've read/reviewed that the BMW B58 engine is excellent, however, it along with some other components, etc. may become more problematic relative to cost of ownership, maintenance, repairs, etc. later down the road or when it's beyond its warranty. This, as well as other features, drawbacks, etc. of each vehicle currently may have me leaning towards the Type S. In any event, at least as of now, I'd need to order either one. Sure, I can update. I'll also take you up on asking you for any additional details, etc. 😊 Thanks again!

@@MrC6Dave - you won’t be disappointed. I bought the 2025 mdx type s for myself last year but my wife loved it so much that she ended up with it. She couldn’t care less about engine speed or torque but the premium quality, comfort, and overall drive & feel make this a significantly better daily driver than the ‘25 BMW X5, which I bought after she decided to “steal” the mdx from me. The only big downside to the mdx type-s is that gas mileage isn’t very great. We average less than 19 mpg and only seem to get around 26 mpg on the highway.

I'm pretty sure you can add this ('Welcome Lighting') as a OEM accessory item at the dealership. It's something I'm currently considering to add if I go the Type S route. It's relatively expensive however, roughly $950 (includes install) here in the Carolinas.

ACURA, PLEASE BE FAIR BY KEEPING ALL POSTED COMMENTS AND NOT REMOVING NEGATIVE COMMENT. We just bought a top of the line 2025 MDX type S , out the door $88,118. We were so disappointed to find out when we got home that there was no spare tire included. From a safety standpoint, in case the tire exploded, or got a puncture blowout caused by big sharp object where self-sealing tires would not work, we had to buy a spare tire kit (wheel and tools) from Acura, plus a spare tire at Les Schwab and installed by them. The total cost was $500. Please beware of no spare tire comes with the MDX type S model. You could deal with your dealer to have it installed before agreeing to buying the car.

@moondog3056 wow. I have no idea what county you live in that made you have this bias that you are god. And that leasing (that actuall successful people do) is for financially irresponsible people For anyone here who needs some advice. Ignore him and here is some info for you This is my personal bias opinion, not financial advice Buy a new car when (excluding vintage and fun purchases k, just for a typical family buying a 2025 car) +it's a cheap car, a town car, a car for a to b for u alone or u plus 1. In that case get a japanese car and keep it as long as u want +ideally a sedan, or cheap subcompact Lease a car when +you want to get a second car +ignore japanese and reliability +do not excuse 3 year leases +get lease protector insurance +put zero downpayment +negotiate alot. Don't just walk on sign and leave +don't ever get a lease based on the monthly payment. Negotiate the principal price if the car +if applicable to ur life or country write off the lease in ur taxes Lastly +never buy electric, lease it. They sink in value so bad +don't buy a japanese premium brand thinning ur winning (Acura Lexus etc). For that price you can lease a better quality interior and comfort and tech car in actual premium luxury vehicles. Keep it for for 2 or 3 years leased. And it's warrantied and maintained free. Just do oil changes. Unless u drive alot u won't even need to change the tires. Just breaks

@VirtousStoic : In my neck of the woods (NY Metro area) according to the Sales Stats...80% of new cars are Leased for obvious reasons you stated here. At these Prices (of any car /SUV of some quality ) either you must lay down a big chunk of $$$$$$ as a downpayment to keep the new car loan payments (with rates up by 100% or more since 2021, i.e. 5-6% vs 3% a few years ago with Top Tier Credit) or put some smaller Cap cost $$$$$ get a lease for 36-48 months for a smaller monthly payment - provided you can live with the 10,000 miles per year [New leases are being written non 7500 miles per year to reduce the monthly payment) . The new car lease obviates any need for Extended Warranties and in some cases can include Covered Maintenence costs for 2-3 years.
