Good video, looks like a great optic. The only gripe I have is the illumination is button activated, I prefer the standard knob like on the ATACRs.

Hi Taco 😊I just bought the new Tacoma so I’m a Taco as well. Lol. Thank you and it is a great optic, tracks very well. I have had issues with my illumination light coming on under recoil from my 338 Lapua. I think the dial would be a better choice as well. Thanks for watching and the comment, take care.

Thanks for the review!!! I am about to pick one of these up for hunting and steel. Maybe a match one day. All of my other scopes are under $1000 so I am ready to compare to see if the extra cost is worth it.

How do you like the FFP reticle at 4x? I looked through the 2.5-20 and the Mil XT is just too small to use at minimum magnification
@bcextremeoutdoorsman
@bcextremeoutdoorsman 3 ай бұрын
@@crossan008 Hi, it is tough to see but if you are on 4 power chances are what you are going to shoot will fill the view in the scope. Lol with fur probably. It is very small but I don’t think you would use it often if ever at all. Unless you’re hunting and you might have a very close shot. I still prefer FFP over second. Thanks for watching and the comment, take care.

Just bought a 4-32 nx8. Typically for parallax I see it in yards. This just has dashes. What does each dash mean or how do you know you are on the right setting

@@86keenHi, I believe all the hashes get bigger as the ranges get longer. If you want mark the dial yourself with the distances that make it clear for you. I have heard of guys doing that. I just quickly dial each time. It just becomes second nature if you use it a lot. Thanks for watching and the comment, take care and enjoy that scope.

Al, I’ve really been looking hard at these but just can’t get over the price tag. Is it really worth it? Is there a tangable ROI on this over optics half the price?
@bcextremeoutdoorsman
@bcextremeoutdoorsman 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, Yes, in my opinion they are worth it. If you are just going to shoot your rifle a few times a year, maybe not. I shoot my rifles weekly, not the same ones every week, but enough to justify an expensive scope, like a Nightforce. They hold their value as well if you ever decide to sell it. Yes, you can tell a difference on a scope half the price for sure, I have been shooting Nightforce scopes for many years. I have never sent one back. I cant say that with other brands. Just my opinion, not saying other brands are not good, its just my preference. I do have a few other brands as well, but I will only hunt with a Nightforce. Im sure you will, but make sure you try one out first, and see if you like it. You will know if its the scope for you. :) Thanks for watching and the comment, take care.

Robert, if you have ever had a scope fail during a hunt like I have, the price is worth it for the reliability of a Nightforce. They take a beating and always stay true. There is a reason the military use them.

I personally had the very same thinking and used to buy only cheap $1000 and under scopes mostly Leupolds, SWFAs, Bushnells and Weavers (cheaper USA and Japan made scopes) and got burnt several times buying Chinese made scopes under well known brands that were terrible. Scopes made in the Philippines such as the Sightrin S-Tacs and Vortex Viper PST 2 are ok not as bad as Chinese made but not great as the Japanese made scopes though. I bought my first March and Nightforce SHV which were the first $1250 and $2000 scopes I ever tried and there's a huge difference in glass quality when compared to scopes $1000 and under. Even the entry level budget $1250 SHV Nightforce got me to step up my wallet and buy $1500 and up scopes from Nightforce NX8 was worth the $1800 I paid and bought more March scopes $2500 and $3000+ and $3000 Kahles, $1500 Tract Torics and $1400 Athlon Cronus and couple of Sightron SVIIIs $1800 on sale. I bought some cheaper Chinese Athlon Midas Tac 6-24x50 for $450 and Ares BTR 4.5+27x50 for $700 and the most expensive Chinese scope I bought was a Hawke Frontier for $800 on sale. Other Chinese made scopes $799 and under aren't worth buying like the Element Titan such a terrible scope for the price they charge especially when compared to the Athlon Ares BTR. Others under $800 made in China scopes I'm really not a fan of and probably won't buy any more made in China scopes no matter what brand they're under unless they're ar least as good as the Athlon Ares BTR at a better price. When I got my Nightforce NX8 4-32x I really think it's a perfect scope compared to my other more expensive scopes regardless of price. It's 28ozin a 30mm tube with 90moa elevation and a zero stop and starts at 4x and goes up to 32x with reasonable clarity for an $1800 scope. Call the well known dealers over the phone they are willing to negotiate cheaper prices since they aren't allowed to list cheaper prices online. Call to negotiate and if one doesn't want to play ball then call the next dealer and so on. If you want to cheap out, with the meopta Optika 5 and Optika 6 you really get a lot more than you pay for and they aren't made in China and their prices are negotiable too. The only scopes IMHO that are truly worth paying full prices for and waiting for them to be made for you are the March High Master, FX and F series and maybe the Burris XTR PRO and Tract Torics but they can still be bought for some discounts and the March on very rare occasions. Biggest disappointments on high end scopes I bought so far are the S&B PM 2 and Kahles 1050i that I feel weren't worth the money I paid. If you don't mind the weight, the Sightron SVIII 5-40x56 is a fantastic scope for $1800 on sale and it's a $2700 - $2800 scope comparable to the best high end scopes out there believe it or not I already compared it to a lot. The next scope I plan to buy is the new Vortex Razor gen 3 6-36x56 once one of my preferred dealers have then back in stock. I doubt it will beat my Sightron SVIII though but I'm more curious than not at $2400 for one. I prefer the March scopes due to their light weight, first rate glass and more care are taken in building each and every one of them as they aren't mass produced like other Japanese scopes are, thus the higher than average cost and wait times. I used to be a Leupold fan until their quality went down after they had a rash of tracking and failures with their high end models so I only stick with the cheaper sub $1000 lines of scopes when I want lighter scopes with decent glass for budget guns.

My biggest issue is this or a baby atacr 4-16x42
@bcextremeoutdoorsman
@bcextremeoutdoorsman Жыл бұрын
Hi Joel, it all depends what you want it for. Atacr’s are amazing scopes but might be a little heavy for a lightweight hunting gun, they cost a little more. I have 2 of the NX 8 scopes and I have had no issues with them and they run great. Once in a while with the recoil from my 338 Lapua the lighted reticle comes on, but that is it. It also depends how much magnification you want as well. Both are great scopes. You don’t be disappointed with either of these scopes. Thanks for watching and the comment, take care.
@J_Un1t
@J_Un1t Жыл бұрын
@@bcextremeoutdoorsman thanks, I figure i will like them both. That almost makes it harder! Luckily the 42mm atacr is only 1.5 ounces heavier than the nx8. I need to look at the reticle sizes of both to see if one is more useful on 4x or if they are identical
